Does the diagnosis of HFA get you disability services.

Before DSMV, Autistic Disorder and Aspergers Syndrome diagnostic labels were official labels. And having that label could get you disability services. If you are diagnosed with HFA,which stands for "High Functioning Autism" by a doctor, would the informal label get you services and disability understanding like the formal label?

HFA is not an official diagnosis. Such a "diagnosis" will not make you eligible for services. It's not on either the DSM IV or DSM V.
If you get diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder by a psychologist/psychiatrist, it would be an official diagnosis; hence, you would be eligible for services.

Exactly funtionaling labels we ep never part of an official diagnosis just something people tack on to explain severity of symptoms but these are way over generalized and massivelu inaccurate, additionally tey are pretty offensive R to many on the spectrum
Befor dsm 5 the DSM iv tr had
Aspergers
Autism
Odd-nos and
CDD
All have been merged into autism spectrum disorder. If you had a diagnosis of one of these you Now have autism spectrum disorder and a professional would give you a level of 1 2 or 3 for severity of your symptoms I think it's in 2 catagory es socail communication and Rrbs or restrictive repetitive behaviors so you migh have a 1 in socail communication but a 3 in RRBs or and mix
