Now, before I explain what I'm after here, I need to point out that yes, I know what Autism Speaks is, and yes, I'm aware of their very negative reputation around here, and probably among the autistic community as a whole. I have only seen so much of them, yet my own opinion is already negative.

That being said, I want to hear what YOUR logic and findings are, about this group. It's easy for me to be negative about them in conversation.... and few do "negative" as well as I do... but when discussing it, it helps to have learned a great detail about the... er... details of it all. So that my knowledge isnt filled with random holes, which naturally just breaks down anything I say against them.

Here is an Autism Speaks Video - I think this video explains a lot of people's problems with Autism Speaks:

@ r2d2
ohh that is one creepy video...I can't imagine what they were thinking while making it. I mean, to me it reminds me of old racist propaganda movies.

Imagine the outrage if you changed the word autism with a word describing a race or skin color or for that matter the word ugly or fat.

I see on Wrong Planet that people dislike "Autism Speaks", But I never heard about them before (not from the US). Now my opinion is a negative one.

I could have understood the video if it was about cancer or such, but this video is very badly done, it is inappropriate and offensive.

Anyone who says that autism took their child away from them needs to be re-educated via a cinder block to the face, repeat as needed.

I believe that Autism Speaks has used that message.

....what in the numerous hells did I just watch?

I just.... I dont even.... what.

Second video I've seen from these wackos now, and it's almost as bad as the first one. I can already see this is going to get worse before it gets... worse. Yeah, there's probably no room for "better" with them, is there...

I'm guessing though, that the videos are only a small part of the picture here?

I agree, this is something you would see about cancer. I have seen a cancer advert where they ''fight against it''. How can this be used for autism. And how can a parent say autism has taken their child away, as if it is some kind of contagious disease! Thank you for putting this on, because I hadn't really heard much about them until now.

Isn't an allistic supremacist organisation just that, for allistics. I am not American but I see that Autism speaks sounds like no other than just an American far right political organisation that mascarades as an autism advocacy organisation. But it has an all allistic committee and who preach hatred and bigotry in their propaganda videos. If this was against the Jews then you would suspect it of anti Semitism and see it in that light. However the propaganda of this organisation is against non allistic people ie people on the autistic spectrum so this is not seen as a hate organisation because in saying there should be a cure for autism is saying that the prevention of autistic people and by autism and includes high functioning forms of autism including Asperger syndrome and PDD NOS. Most autistic people have allistic levels of cognitive intelligence so and having that does not mean that or experiences of autism/Asperger syndrome are any less valid because we do not have a learning disability (or intellectual disability as the Americans call it) because the high fucntioning autistic person still has the full experiences of having an autistic spectrum condition and what allistic people really feel about him or her because they do not like it simply because someone is not allistic and either way that is neurobigotry to me. The two worse things of having autism/Asperger syndrome is the sensory issues as well as aspiphobia ot Autiphobia which is a subset of neurobigotry against people on the autistic spectrum. So saying that high functioning autistic people are not really autistic then that is just pure arrogance on part of Autism Speaks. On autistic issues the experts on autistic spectrum conditions are the people with them rather than those without because they (allistic and other kinds of NT) have no clue of what it was like to be an autistic child, adolescent or adult because only an autistic person or an aspie really knows what it is like to be such a person. Therefore such an organisation that wants to get rid of autistic people does hint of a whiff of National Socialism there and that stupid puzzle symbol as well. I hope they get shown for what they (Autism Speaks) are nothing more than a right wing organisation. well that was a strange propaganda video it reminds me of the German 1940s propaganda of Joseph Goebbels. This sounds like such an incitement to hate and im surprised that this sort of bigotry is not frowned up on as pure allistic arrogance. I don't claim to understand about allism because I'm not allistic and so far over here there are not many organisations like autism speaks apart form the BNP which is the main far right organisation in the UK. I would never have such an organsation think that they speak up for me because they don't. And this is what autistic/AS people should be saying to these hate organisations and I would like to see Autism speaks banned here in the UK as a hate group rather allowing such bigotry a platform here in UK politics. For evil to triumph it takes good people to remain silent.
