Vocational Rehabilitation Experiences and Advice
Hello I recently signed up for and started working with a vocational rehabilitation counselor to try and help me get funding to go back to school.
My counselor is really nice and sincere. I am having some issues though. It is taking a really long time to get things moving and things are slow. My counselor told me it would take a few months of processing and handing information back and forth before everything is finished.
I keep in contact with her every week to make sure things are moving along but I'm not sure if this is gonna pan out the way I want it to.
I have a pretty good idea of what my strengths and weaknesses are already and I know what I want to study but
I was asked before deciding to go to school if I wanted to take a vocational assessment exam but this has only slowed the process further....
It has been 3 months now and after handing in all my prior medical, academic and personal info I have yet to hear back from her for a date on when to take the vocational assessment exam...
I have never worked with this program before so I'm really not sure what I should do next, should I opt out of the vocational assessment and request to go forward with schooling that I want?
I have been jobless since getting out of school for 3 years now... I have not been able to find work on a livable wage. I am still a young man at 28 years old... Right now my life is a nightmare caught in limbo and I don't know what I should do next.
Any advice or suggestions on how to go about this would be greatly appreciated. Also if you have gone through this program successfully, let me know what happened and what you did to move forward.
