When I try to sleep and the crew neck touches my throat it feels like I'm strangling :(

I'm the same exact way. I always have to wear low cut or v neck shirts. I literally cannot handle it if my T-shirt collar is touching me--it feels like I'm being choked.

Yeah I hate having the collar of a shirt touching my neck. I have some crew neck t-shirts that don't up that high though. It's hard to find shirts like that so I bought a dozen or more or them. lol

I can't wear shirts that have a wide/low neck either. My shoulders don't fill them out so they flop around too much.

I don't like them either, but can stand them better than polar neck/roll neck jumpers. They drive me nuts.

At least they don't surround you like a turtleneck, those are torture. But my stance is to wear something comfortable, regardless of what fashion says.

I buy crew necks shirt a size too large to fix that problem. Doesn't always work depending on the cut. BTW, if crew necks give you problems, don't wear a tie, that choking sensation is much worse.

I have the same problem thou I can put up with things touching my neck when I really have to even thou I really dislike it. I think someone may of choked me some when I was really little & is a form of PTSD but I'm not sure. I have almost flash-backs of being choked.

If I wear a crew neck, I'm constantly yanking at it til I break the stitching, so they don't last long. I usually end up getting the scissors and cutting the sucker bigger.
