Answering dawndeloen's thread about crazy-making sounds gave me athe idea for this thread. What are sounds that …

(1) … you like?
(2) – you can't get enough of?

For me,
(1) rain, thunder in the distance, silence, cats purring
(2) soft, catchy instrumental pipe-and bodhran music

Rain on a tent sounds cool, snow crunching under your feet is A LOT of fun... Cows chewing grass, or any animal chewing grass or plants is a lot of fun too.

When I was young I had a collection of different sized batteries.

I used to love the sound of them clicking together so much I used to beg my friend to play with them just so I could watch and listen.

It used to send me off into a trance it was so lovely.

Just thinking of it now is sending me a bit woozy.

This is me in my trance 8O

I liked the sound of a moving train, namely, the clacking sound of the wheels knocking against the tracks. It has a very calming effect of me.

I like the sound of wind chimes. Also, the splash of water on a pebble beach.

Rain when its hot
Wind and leaves
Slow stream
Horse gallop
Those old steam trains
Over emphasised footstep sound effects in old movies

But the best one

The reverberated sound you experience when you are half asleep. Can only be described as ethereal.

Natural Sounds:

Thunder :D (close = exciting - distant = soothing)
Rain
Falling snow (it has to be coming down hard to hear it, makes a whooshing sound)
Cracks forming on a frozen pond (kind of scary if you’re on the ice, but it’s a really cool sound)
Thrush songs in the forest
Small streams
Frogs
Crickets

Non-natural Sounds:

Car driving (slowly) on gravel
Coffee maker gurgling
Boiling water
Burning wood
Electric razor (probably because I love how it feels when a barber shaves the back of my neck)
Soft, low pitched mechanical noises (refrigerators, air conditioning units, fans on “low”)

Instruments:

Piano
Cello (with a bow or plucked)
French horn
Electric bass guitar

plus lots of others I can’t name off the top of my head

good idea, i will definitely participate in this.

I like the sound of

Cat meows and purrs
good music

the hum of a sewing machine as it starts up
that popping sound that watermelon makes when you cut the whole thing in half.
apparently my own voice, because i talk to myself all the time.
