No I'm not talking at home in your bedroom or in my case home alone and family is working more going out on my own. (for example I was thinking getting the bus to the theater) I think I'm kind of paranoid or whatever though I automatically think of killers and such attacking me (I'll have my cane but IMO cane/knee brace you could take me down easily) So any tips besides getting out there? Sure you can't worry about this stuff all the time and have to grow up and such but IMO it's when you walk etc. and let your guard down that you get killed/raped etc. Thanks WP. :-)

Get training in street survival/fighting. Knowing what to do and how not to be a victim deals with much of that fear.

I think it'd be hard to learn fighting since I have a bad knee any leg movement is out of the question (I'd have my brace/cane but still) Thanks for the idea though. :-)

I like to go jogging/walking, and I go at night because of the summertime heat. That's changing now because of fall. I might start walking earlier as soon as the first freeze zaps the mosquitoes. I carry one of those keychains that has a can of pepper spray solution in it. I've never had a problem because I only go to places that are considered to be relatively safe. Just to be sure, I carry my keychain with me at all times.

Then you take walks with a perfectly functional weapon.

You'd be amazed how effective people who seem crippled can defend themselves. Most attackers don't expect resistance and won't risk confrontation.

Buy a gun. The great equalizer. You're in Florida, they'll let you have one.

Considering perhaps a tazer maybe for when I get a job. Not sure if you need a license in Florida though I'll have to research that. I don't like the idea of owning a gun. :-)

Let me fix that for you:

1) Find and attend a gun safety class.

2) Go to a local shooting range, rent various guns, practice practice practice until you learn to shoot. Also, find a gun that fits you best while you are there.

3) Obtain a concealed carry permit from the cops.

4) Buy a gun that fits you best.

5) Use it only when your life is in imminent danger.

Frankly great many people nowadays aren't fit to own a gun, but they get one anyway. And I'm not even talking about criminals.

Whoever suggested martial arts is a wise man. Go find a local dojo.

I walk fearlessly everywere. :D Even places that are considered "unsafe". Especially at night, darkness seem to highten my senses, so I hear and see everything. My whole body becomes energized.
(Besides, I have a really big dog with me most of the time, if you can handle it I recomend you to get one, mastiff preferbly.)

 You live in Sweden. Every thug in the US carries at least a handgun. In some large cities there are gangs armed with automatic weapons. Imagine running into twenty 16 year olds armed to the teeth? Not even cops are willing to confront them.

The thing about a gun is, if you're threatened you don't even need to fire it. Just pointing it at the miscreant in question will have them s****ing their pants. If you ever did need to fire it, it would literally be a matter of life and death.

Not even the most druged, fearless gangmember would put his life on the line when 220 pound muscles and fangs are walking beside you. ;)

Did you see that? ^^ Please ignore this advicee. Please.

Guns ARE NOT to be displayed unless your intent is to shoot the attacker.
