Apparently everyone has all kinds of ailments a disorders that were completly unaware off. Yet it seems we have drugs for every single one of them. Every month there are even more disorders coming out with apperently terrible, terrible symtoms like restless leg syndrome even that is doesnt bother, or affect anything yet it has aweful symtoms. We just have to bye pills and capsuls that will help us with these disorders apprently. How about those on here with Depression, ADD, ADHD. How many pills have you taken that dont seem to work or even affect you. Odd that they havent found a cure for Autism yet.

I begin to think that every difference a person has is being diognosed with terrible symtoms, simply because its different than what people think is normal. Yet no one ever describes what normal is. My theory is that no one can because there are so many people with disorders there are no single person that is "Normal" or whatever the hell you want to call it. And some of these things even matter I ask. Yes Autism is real but is Aspergers Syndrome. Aspergers Syndrome is just a branch of Autism or neuorological difference in the brain of a person that people call "normal"?

Sorry, im just ranting and this probably not worth anything and im so bad at saying what I accually want to the right way. But I can try. May I have some opinions or simply thoughts?

Excuse my spelling.

my perspective is that we are the normal ones... but cause everyone else is abnormal they make us a syndrome...

I think the problem is that you have a spectrum and at what point do you draw the line to say this is where the spectrum ends and this is where normal begins.

Would the normal person be considered patient zero since all disorders should be radiating out from that person?

Using Dx's to prescribe meds is one issue, separate from diagnosing long-existing conditions. Now knowing what I know about autism and Asperger's, I can move on past some very traumatic things in my life. Knowing that one is an Aspie can prevent using prescriptions, in some cases. I know someone who thought his differences were due to childhood abuse (very brutal abuse), he knows he has PTSD but those issues are different from his Autistic traits. He can deal with himself without antidepressants, he just ensures a certain lifestyle and has a better gauge when things aren't going well.
I know that I can teach my son things that will help him succeed without drugs. The pressure to dope him is heavy, it's so expected.

I do agree that there is excessive prescribing for every natural problem. I read a study that showed doctors overprescribe antibiotics for ear infections by 50%, because of parental pressure!! They knew it was wrong but were cajoled into it! Kids can die of that! My mom would take naps in the afternoon and then complain that she had insomnia. That whole thing has blown out of proportion, restless leg syndrome, apnea, etc. She's sunk $$$ into tests, sleep clinics, machinery, drugs (some were dangerous), dietary supplements, you name it!

I have had problems with insomnia myself, Dr. Donkey Kong recommends a couple of hours of gaming, a set of headphones and call him in the morning! :!:

Diagnosing everything and not being able to deal with problems is what those medicines are about. They were invented to replace that as that is the nature of drugs. They just creep in and they destroy..

In my opinion, those SSRI's or whatever probably don't count for anything that anyone has tried. Paxil may be an exception to that, however.

The stuff that really drugs up the brain might be more like aderall, depakote, and those so-called antipsychotic drugs. But SSRI's actually do something so that doesn't mean that the absence of them doesn't matter.

Of anything I could be doing to put in my body, I have realized that it does matter to people and if I did for a little while because people were not really paying attention, it was important that I just quit... Everyone knows that I have no horrific problems like everyone else. I don't see people discouraging me! The problem, however, is that I am stuck in the same old routine I do everyday and, fortunately, people see that its just a phase. If I work on breaking those habits I do all the time, it helps me progress to being more open to the world around me.

The drug companies are going to make sure that doctors keep finding new syndromes and ailments, and they are going to make sure that the media makes big stories out of each of them to instill fear in otherwise healthy citizens, all in the name of the mighty dollar.
I personally believe that many of these 'remedies' for new 'ailments' are making people sicker than if they didn't use the drugs, and that many people are mis dx'ed because of pressure from the drug companies.

Thirty-five years ago shrinks were rare. They had few roles,

Sentenceing people to life in mental hospitals, where behavior was modified for the convenince of the staff.

Testimony in court that the accused was sane enough to hang.

And in big cities, talking to very rich people who had no friends.

Those locked up jumped on the Civil Rights Act of 1963, pointing out they had been denied due process.

Almost all State Mental Health Hospitals were closed, very quickly, and everyone was moved to Community based treatment. Many were now free to walk the streets, which they had been locked away from for twenty of thirty years. Most got along well in the world.

The 60s saw a lot of Psych Majors, Nut Case was the common meaning, that got Degrees, then sought work. They are not of Science or Medicien, Botany is a Science.

Working with some Quack MD, they became drug pushers. Anphetimines and Barbituates. By the 70s nearly a third of the population had scripts for uppers and downers, and mixed with booze, many were dying.

In one of the rare times government made sense, the ability to perscribe was greatly restricted, and lead was banned from gas, for in cities it had reached acculumations that saturated children, and that generation had IQs 10 to 25 points lower than expected. Schools were not dumbed down so black kids could pass, but because the whites could not perform like a mere decade before.

Just as the States covered their ass on locking people up without due process, a girl who told people what her daddy had been doing to her since she was six, and he a prominate man. Someone who was to get an inheritance, till the family, a lawyer, a doctor, had them declared unworthy, and the doors closed forever.

The government covered for the gas, it was legal. Government had approved it's use. and a whole generation had special needs. Such was the birth of a social service that pretends to science and medicine. They were created to avoid legal liability on a huge scale. At first they had an office where they fixed paperwork, interviewed people, undercut any posible legal action.

When the unjustly locked up passed the Statute of Limitations, and the Lead Poisonings, the Regan years, welfare was cut off. Community treatment was cut to the bone, and a whole class of workers who thought they had had real jobs. They found they were qualified for nothing.

Their only friends were their drug connections who were still smarting over the loss of the upper and downer market. Bad parenting, bad teaching, became kids with problems. The got back into dope pushing. It was great, the side effects became part of the diagnoses, worried parents saw their children get worse, and bought more pills.

Children who showed any trouble concentrating on homework were given speed, Dexadrine, Ritlen, though the long tern effects were well known. Complete break with reality, paranoia, video games.

As fast as the world caught on, and had one scam banned, another popped up. This was our lead poisoned generation, born in the sixties, fourty to fifty, parents and professionals now, their children reacting in un-lead poisoned ways, Unleaded people in a Leaded world.

The oil companies did not want to be busted for Tetra Ethel Lead, many millions of tons, a huge dirty bomb. But the government really liked the result. Bush elected to a second term, I rest my case.

Because of this lead poisoned generation industry had to relocate, not enough brainpower to keep the system running after the WWII folks retired. Casino gambleing was legalized near everywhere, lotteries, extended warentees, car leases, and the belief that housing prices always go up. This generation works to pay interest, credit cards, at 18%, and religion by Jim and Tammy fay Baker.

The Post-Lead generation, Bill Gates, Andy Grove, Micheal Dell, are understood by those who came after, but the leaded are going to clan meetings, and want to burn the Constitution to save the country for the American way. The world should become democratic because Jesus said so, and the way to do it is with democraticly made bombs. Abu Greb and Gitmo are Freedom.

Anyone who supports the Constitution is a terrorist.

Only a few are among the saved and the rest are the devils. More are locked up now than were ever burned at the stake before, and the dammed are made to pay for it. It is not stealing to take from the devil's minions, it is God's Work.

It is a runaway world. The best historical parraell I can think of is the wet years following the mini ice age of 1200. As it warmed the years were wet through harvest, Ergot, a fungus, and natural source of LSD, grew on the rye, having nothing else they ate it. Deamons were seen everywhere, religion went wild, many burned, and in long lines they danced from village to village, till they fell dead. Then there were the Crusades. That went on for several hundred years, then the Black Death came in three waves.

This death and madness formed what the rest of the world called Plague Europeans. Their common past a drug induced dillusion. They spread their God by going over the world, killing everyone they met, and stealing their land.

Ours is just one generation, but they do control the world superpower, 30,000 atomic bombs, and God would not have given it unto their hands unless it was the will of heaven.

They could not keep the factories running, aborted their children, and claim ownership of god. They will continue to be a problem for the next twenty years. As the Holy Writ says, the Chosen will rise into heaven after Armagedden, then come the second coming, and the rapture. The way they see it, they can take it with them.

Does anyone remember in "The Royal Tenenbaums," where the psychiatrist diagnosed "Heinsbergen Syndrome" on the obviously aspie kid, and the symptoms were that he was colorblind and unable to recognize shapes (among other stuff)? I thought that was an obvious jab at Asperger's. It was pretty funny though.

Holey Wow.
I'm impressed!
Inventor, yours is probably the longest post I've read (I've started to read many long ones but never make it through due to lack of attention span), and it intrigued me throughout the entire read!
Bravo!!
What a concept!
I would like to investigate further on what you say.
Are there any books or sites you could refer me to?

To answer the original question, people go for a diagnosis because they want to know. This is why I had testing done and had testing done on three of my children. Information leads to understanding.

Peoples problems are real. They want help with those problems. In theory a correct
diagnosis leads to treatment with the best methods known at the time for your diagnosis.

Things you mentioned are not trivial like rest leg syndrome is a painful condition. ADHD
might make you a creative genius but its more likely to make you fail in school and the work place.

The reason there's a pill for everything is because pills make money. America especially is a pill-popping society...it's the oil companies and pharmaceutical companies that rule the world, not the totalitarian maniacs we call presidents or prime ministers, etc. Even they are not immune to the necessity for pills and fossil fuels.

Trust me, they'll pick out any feature of human kind, good or bad, and create a pill that'll pull or tug it this way or that and call it a cure. Hell, they'll even sell you placebos or pills that make you sick...so they can sell you another one to fix the problem!

Did you get the name of your title from the wikipedia article about AS? I'm pretty sure it mentioned "diagnosing every eccentricity".

Also, you have L as an avatar and therefore kick arse 8)

Now I remember more times.

When the Greeks rose to power they were brillient, then faded quickly. The Golden Age lasted a generation, then nothing. The silver mines of Attica were exploited on a mass scale, military victory produces slaves for the mines, and the ore was lead-zinc-silver. it is not hard to refine to pure silver.

Heated in an open crucible the lead and zinc turn to a vapor. Rich ore might run 3% to 10% silver. As silver was very important to the state, and rich people, both of whom do not rise by being honest, they refined the ore in the cities, under guard. They produced many tons of silver, and hundreds of tons of lead vapor which settled over everything, the land, crops, water, within a generation the bright light of Greece dimmed.

Greek culture survived in colonies where there was no silver mining, but with the decline of the homeland, and their insane insistance that they were the rulers of everyone, what was left was fragmented.

The next was the Romans, awesome engineers. Their works are still impressive. They too mined in other lands and brought the ore to Rome. Low grade ore was made into water pipes, sheets that lined aquaducts, and as a glaze on pottery. Caligula started the war with Numidia, because they supplied the grain and oil that fed Rome, but being free, wanted to be paid. After his short life, Claudius came to power, and tried to stop the war, but was told, the State is broke.

It took seven years but Rome was a power, and they did take the mines of Numidia, They hauled the loot home, it was mostly lead, and Rome needed silver to pay the army. They made the payroll, but a generation later had no engineers, quit building, the empire had no real enmies, but it's self, and it just crumbled. By 410 a small band from the north marched in, and mighty Rome could not think of how to resist.

Sumaria, Egypt, Babalon, also seemed to rise to wealth, then suddenly crumble from within. There were two dark ages before the Greeks, a literate people just stopped, no book written or read for 800 years.

After Rome nothing was written for 800 years. The Spanish came to the new world for silver, and where great cultures stood, a darkness spread. Spain refused to let those born in the new world return. Spain was the great power of the day, and nothing has come from Spanish America. Only recently have the great painters and writers in their blood resurfaced.

When testing proved that black children were not ret*d, they were suffering from lead poisoning, there was a lot of press, but the stories were they were so dumb they ate paint chips. It was a large and well financed press release, a big spin job, blaming ignorance and paint companies. The Lead in paint is an oxide, and bound by paint. it is not the bio-active form, like Tetra Ethel Lead. That goes into the life chain, and hangs around.
