I've always had a sweet tooth. Lately I have been craving a lot of junk food and comfort food. The cravings are completely independent of hunger.

edit: I forgot to say that I'm pretty sure I have chronic anxiety, and maybe have always had it.

I just bought hostess coffee cakes, yum yum yum.
But I would only eat one small one per day.

I do love sugar. With that being said, about a month ago, I stopped drinking my daily sugar-sweetened soda and eating my daily bowl of ice cream. Why? Because my blood glucose levels were high and my doctor warned that I was on the edge of becoming pre-diabetic. Even after cutting out soda and ice cream, I probably still consume too much sugar.

I've been afraid of that. It will be very difficult for me to cut it down drastically.

I'm afraid of that too. I don't know what I would do if I found out I was diabetic. It would be misery for me to cut down on sugar (or have to cut it out entirely).

Like you Rocket, I have a ice cream and cola habit. I stopped drinking soda for a long time, but recently started again and for some reason it really helps my digestion.

I don't know if I have a sweet tooth, but I eat junk food whenever I can get my hands on it. However, I stopped drinking soda a long time ago because I kept getting an allergic reaction from consumption of soda.

I've always been afraid of that, too. I use xylitol and stevia instead of sugar although I seldom need them. (Now some are questioning the safety of natural sweeteners and I'm starting to avoid using them, too.) If I switched back to using sugar rather than natural sweeteners, would I be less stressed?

Diet can quite strongly affect some people. Some people do better super high carb and sugar, others do better with none. Its all very trial and error to figure out. Also requires a lot of discipline if you are someone with cravings. Comfort food is definitely a thing for me, eating or drinking in general is calming. Yay stimming.

I have always been confused by the term "Comfort food". Probably, because all of the things "they" (whoever they are) consider to be "Comfort foods" are not things I find particularly comforting. In addition, most of them seem rather unhealthy.

Yup, I love sugary food, even more so when Im stressed. But I have a rule, buy the nicest, most desirable treat once a week as a standard purchase, and have a tiny portion of it if Im craving comfort food. E.g. One square of a Lindt chocolate bar per day.
I started to drink Cacao a few years ago, I buy the raw ingredient now; making the drink from scratch is part of a process, I make it with a small ammount of skimmed milk, the rest of it is water with one sugar (sometimes one table spoon of Ice cream) and it is a very satisfying treat. http://www.medicinehunter.com/cocoa-health-miracle

I sure do. Not just sweets, junkfoods too. People thought I get fat, but so far I haven't. Anyway that's not the reason...

I have a sweet tooth, but even so I'm still picky about it. Once a day, I'd buy at least as much as 2 fingers of kitkats. If I couldn't afford them, I'll just get some candy.

However, if I'm stressed enough, I'd buy as much as sweets as possible until I get broke.

I'm not sure if eating is becoming a stim for me or not. Maybe for now.
I'm coming out of an extended period of anhedonia and I'm finding the idea of "comfort food" to be very important to me now because eating certain things makes me feel really good, if but temporarily. The more I eat, the longer I can extend this period of feeling good.

The sweet-tooth thing has been really worrying me for a while because of possible cumulative health issues.
The urges are very powerful. I have a Krispy Kream only two blocks from my house and when I drive by it I feel a strong pull towards it like a gravity. I normally do not stop, but I think about how good it would feel to eat a dozen glazed donuts.
