1)...The Question?

What are the type of phase by phase
coping skills that you use to allow
a smooth transition from one point
to another?

2)...Statements by Ghosthunter!

I am going through drastic change that
makes a phase by phase controlled
bleeding and burning neccesary.
When I took the hostel job knowing
that it was temporary housing when
I was laid off at the Pizza place.

I also knew of it's dangers that
came from the hostel owner. 2.5
years later I am filing to the labor
board and will recieve my 3 day notice.

I was venomous yesterday, so I did
a controlled burn. This phase I allowed
me to vent the venom from my system
that clouds my judgement and hinders
my coping skills. Today is a Phase II
burn. This controlled burn is to address
how my intuition guided me.

I am 95% free of the hostel. I allowed
myself to develop newer routines that
will separate me from that evil place.

• I hang either at Starbucks, or
China Basin Borders until 11pm.
This allows the opportunity to be
somewhere, and not have to spend
too much cash.

•Wireless internet, not his DSL

•Making a computer business connection
so I can harness my software skills and
help the process in selling used computers.

I will try to maintain this connection so
my roommate and I can see different digs,
or office space to conduct business in a neutral
space, NOT THE HOSTEL.

This isn't going to house me or my roommate,
but it it will give him a outlet for his mechanical
ability, and my software setup ability.

•I made sure $500 in my checking before such
a cirmstance. I was hoping for $1200, but oh!
well! My life must go on, and I will have to
settle for this smaller amount.

• I made sure I had a job maintained independent
of the hostel so I can see past the hostel.
Because of this 10-20 hours a week job, though
it may not house me, it will:

i... Feed me!
ii... Allow storage of minimal clothing and CD-RW
iii... A regular $150-200 every 2 week paycheck.

• What is really good is this is happening in
a end of a paycheck cycle period. I just Z-Tagged
payroll and were paid on Friday.

Beyond this I need other events to reach their
course.

3)...The Question Repeated.....

What are the type of phase by phase
coping skills that you use to allow
a smooth transition from one point
to another?

I'm going to take a stab at this...

Last september when move in day occured, I had all things planned out as to how I would do things on move in day.

But when I got there, nothing was as I had planned it, I got very upset, and my mom who was with me was trying to calm me down, and at the same time, was prepping herself to do damage control.

I managed to calm myself down and decided that since my plan of action was down the crapper, I might as well try to figure out how to proceed.

So instead of taking things 1-2-3-4-5, I decided to take things step by step 1. 2. 3. 4. 5.

And I managed to get moved in with out much hassle.

In that case yes, but I was upset mainly because I got all the literature that said "this is how move in day works... and then it wasn't like that. I felt betrayed.

Perhaps you are not understanding???? I'll try it another
way. What steps do you take to allow proper coping
skills in transitions in your life?

:D

Ugh, I know how that is, Scoots.

Rarely do I get to formulate such a solid step-by-step plan, but I prefer to be able to visualize my procedures before they take place, to prep myself, and that's not always possible.

Generally what we do is me and my mom work out a step by step plan to get things accomplished, slowly. I get very anal and freak out if the plan begins to change, and I do not allow her to do certain things, such as putting my clothes away. I can't do anything until the room is completely set.

Phase by phase coping skills -

In terms of physical advice, dealing with the employer, finding a place to live, etc., I don't know what to say, cause I've never had house and food at risk: my family has always supported me. As a result I never really learned to fear change. Every time I've moved, gone to a new school, etc, it's always been thrilling, exciting. Not somthing I need coping skills to get through.

But in terms of the mental stuff - keeping your mind operating at maximum efficiency when the rest of the world is threatening to tear you down - walking out into enemy territory every time you open your door - doing controlled burns to detoxify yourself in the process - yeah I've done that, though for reasons other than imminent homelessness.

One thing that helps me is knowing that even if the rest of the world is going to hell, I always have control over my own mind. The ability to do burns and bleeds at will instead of being swung wildly from one emotional extreme to another as circumstances press in around you, is difficult but very valuable. So I think that's something to be proud of, no matter what kind of crap the hostel people are throwing at you. And of course having a locus of connection that's totally seperate from the rest of the mess, like wrongplanet, is big.
