Hey y'all,

I am diagnosed with clinical depression and adult ADHD (36 yrs old) Additionally I am a recovering Addict/Alcoholic who got sober through AA and intensive outpatient therapy along with Doctor administered medication Prozac 40mg with Stratera 80mg trazadone 100mg for sleep.

The prozac helped tremendously with addiction due to the relief of daily depression, then just 2 weeks ago my therapist and Nurse Practitioner Pharmacologist who specializes in working with addicts diagnosed me with adult adhd and promptly started me on stratera. I was at 50mg for 10 days then bumped to 80mg yesterday.

over all I have been feeling great but still seeing some ADHD symptoms but I am told strattera takes several weeks.

I would love any insight on this regimen for an adult with depression and ADHD and is recovering from addiction and alcoholic.

Thanks!

I take Prozac, but only 20 mg in the morning, along with .01mg of Catapres in the morning and at night. This combo has worked well for me as far as depression and anxiety, but I've never taken Strattera. I've heard good things about Strattera for ADHD but from what I've heard you have to be patient with it.

I think most people have to experiment with different meds to find what might work for them. Give the meds time to work and stay in touch with your health care providers. I wish you a successful recovery. It's hard sometimes but it's worth the effort to get mentally healthy. :skull:

I am not a big fan of Prozac as some doctor prescribe it even though some patients exhibit heightened aggression and unpredictability. While it is not generally a bad medication, many doctor ignore uncommon (1:100) side effects when there are several medications out there that provide safer alternatives. And know that 1:100 is still a pretty big chance.
