I really struggle with negative people, people who moan about things consistently. Yes things are bad, yes I'm different, no I don't fit in with everybody but hey ho life goes on. If I dwell on the problems then they seem worse, but if I start to focus on something I enjoy then I am able to forget your worries for a while and feel positive. At times this seems impossible, so I may start with watching a good film, read a book, start a new painting or if I'm really calm I can get on with some programming but that's a rarity these days.

Once I've got a project I'm interested in then the other bits of life don't bother me. I may go do a sh***y job I hate, with people I don't talk to or like, but I'm thinking of my projects and what I'll do when back home... hopefully one day one of my projects will get me out of the rat race and let me live and shape life to how I it want to be!

What makes you feels positive?

Oh, chocolate is always a good starting point for me :D

Anything that tastes delicious (fruits, salads, cakes, cheese, salmon and many other things). Drinks such coffee, wine, grapefruit juice and so on.

I'm learning a foreign language. I'm also starting a new hobby. These things give me some joy and make me temporarily forget the shït people at work.

You really struggle with negative people, and yet earlier you were making a concerted effort to goad, troll and badger here on WP -- a pretty negative activity, rarebit.

It seems another of your hobbies that makes you "start to feel positive" is starting sh!t on forums you just joined. Brand new and you already took delight in making trouble.

Now you're all "butter wouldn't melt."

Amazing, the denial.

What are you really doing here on WP?

I also don't like being around negative people, esp. those who whine a lot.
People don't have to be positive or optimistic all the time, but more realistic and rational is fine.

I lurk here almost every single day. I haven't seen any of that so I'll give rarebit the benefit of the doubt. I don't think feeding trolls is remotely in line with OP's subject anyway, even if rarebit was a troll.

Anyways I've been staying positive lately by hiking, hacking, building bikes, planning my car project, helping friends make music and going about my usual hippie business as if it keeps the world turning, because as far as I know it just might.

Caffeine, chocolate, sex, and socially out-maneuvering someone who is trying to make trouble for me.

Ah yes, caffeine. Tomorrow's cappuccino is gonna be glorious. Yerba Mate tea is also good for one's inner sunshine, it has alkaloid anti-inhibitors! :bounce:

Being deep in thought (writing in my journal, posting on WP, concentrating on solving a problem at work, etc.). I wish I could be deep in thought all the time.

Being drunk is what makes me feel the most positive.

I also feel really excited when I have the potential to become friends with a new person, because you never know where that could end up.

Eating a huge pizza smothered with anochovies, oh god yes please sign me up, kthx.

Getting things done and deleting them from my lists, perfecting my wild system. The system, when completely perfected, is going to make life much better for me, ergo working on it makes me feel positive about that eventuality. Great coffee, cooking beautiful Japanese food, reading and learning new things. :)

All the foods that I associate with positive things I should not eat as they make me feel sick in the long run. This includes bread, cheese, chocolate, coffee, bacon or any other smoked meat, potatoes, alcohol, etc. If I have sex or masturbate when my mood is down it brings it down further when it's over.

These things are also addictive for me. Fulfilling addictions and cravings always seems to bring my mood down. I struggle with what to do with myself when not focussing on an addictive thing.

It is probably my lack of ability to stop a thing once its gone long past the pleasure point.

Threads like this always make me feel worse.

Whatever makes me feel positive always leads to a negative. My scales are never balanced.

Working on a task that I find interesting and that other people perceive as valuable that I have planned to do and am then capable of doing at the planned time.

You've identified that you take some things too far, you can recognise this point and stop, savour the moment.

My positives for the day are checking off three things from my list and that Snickers bars were on offer, so chocolate and nuts :D
