10,000. I'm sure Alex will post about this later.
However, I thought I'd jump the gun, because the whole thing makes me feel very good, and I hope it makes you feel that way too.
For those of you who look at these things, we now have 9, 919 world-wide members of Wrong Planet. I joined when we had 2,000 members, and that wasn't so long ago. As one who has watched this board grow I want to congratulate not only Alex and Dan, but everyone (too numerous to list here) who has worked hard to make this happen. At the rate we have been going, we will have 10,000 members by mid-summer (actually well before), and it has been due to the efforts of people (all of you) who have logged on, left posts, used the chat room, helped moderate (yes, I know there were some issues awhile back, but I'm not going to revisit them) and been understanding when we had minor problems and went down for a couple of hours.
Some of our biggest contributors are women and men who do not live in the US, which makes me happy, because we are providing a forum for them, and they are getting in there, rolling up their virtual sleeves, and hellping this thing take off. Thank you.
It's with a site like this that people in the autistic community have a true voice. I'm not going to mention names, (it would be nice, but I worry that I'd leave some major contributors out, just because I have a faulty memory) so I'll just say good job ladies and gentlemen who have made this happen.
The first 10,000 were the hardest. The minute that counter flips over to 10, we have a new goal. We need to drive it to 20. That will happen. Maybe not as quickly as the 10 did, but it will happen. So congratulations to all of us.
