I think other kinds of apraxia seem common too.

I might have verbal apraxia, but never considered it.

I was in speech therapy cuz I had problems pronouncing certain sounds like S, Z, Th, Sh, & Ch. I also have a tremor disorder that sometimes affects my voice but I don't think I had apraxia

Great! As if we don't already have enough problems to deal with!

LOL me too but any knowledge of what problems you have is a good things. It brings you another step closer to coping strategies.

Thanks for sharing. For me, this article contains an interesting quote:

Quote:
“Children with apraxia have difficulty coordinating the use of their tongue, lips, mouth and jaw to accurately produce speech sounds, so that each time they say the same word, it comes out differently, and even their parents have difficulty understanding them,” said Cheryl Tierney, an associate professor of pediatrics at the Penn State College of Medicine, who led the study published online in the Journal of Developmental & Behavioral Pediatrics.

Between ages 2-4, my Mom noted that my speech was “difficult to understand”. I also remember stuttering a bit when I was in High School. While I didn’t stutter often, it was often enough for people to notice (and enough to be teased about it).

So, it never occurred to me that I might have had apraxia when I was young. I am just curious, is this something most people outgrow?

Some psych meds also made it worse. It's not much of a problem nowadays partly due to being on anxiety medication & being in a better environment.
