Every time I visit my doctor, I write down the questions I want to ask on my smartphone using OneNote. And every time I visited him, he interrupted me and never let me go beyond the first two questions (there are usually at least 5).

Not so long time ago, he asked me to write down my history and put it on an USB drive. I did so, and gave the USB drive to him.

Today, he let me finish all my questions, without saying a word. This happened for the first time in more than 10 visits.

Why did the doctor allow me to finish my questions this time? And my history was mostly based on development delays and my current struggles with basic autonomy and rigid routines. The doctor in question is a psychiatrist who's trained and specialized in the field of autism, by the way.

I don't think we have enough information to know why. Best to just ask him.

My rudimentary guess, though, might be that he realized you had a need to get through your list without being interrupted, and maybe he made this determination based on the history you gave him. Otherwise, I don't know.

Yes it's hard to know without more information. Possibilities:

1. There was something in your history that indicated you were fed up of not being listened to.

2. The doctor has begun to take a serious interest in your case, as evidenced by him requesting your history.

3. The doctor has become a little wiser due to the passing of time.

4. The doctor is less busy than he used to be, so has more time for you.

My money's on explanation 2.

It'll be interesting to see whether he continues to give you time to ask all your questions, on subsequent visits.
My doctor was rather the opposite. He initially took an interest in the stress I was having, but after a while he seemed to take a dislike to me and ceased to be supportive. Good that your experience is different.
