I just found out I have this foot deformity called skewfoot. It's a congenital deformity which causes the foot to have this weird curve. It's apparently rather rare, but I was wondering if anyone else here has this, as neurological conditions such as Ehlers-Danloss can increase the risk of skew foot, and I know some people on here have neurological conditions like this.

If anyone here has it, how have you treated it? It seems like the only way to cure it is through surgery, but they have to basically break all the bones in your foot and put them back the right way (this does not sound appealing). The podiatrist gave me orthotics to wear, which will hopefully reduce the pressure on certain parts of my feet and relieve the pain. Of course, now my legs and knees are sore from adjusting to the orthotics, but hopefully that will go away soon.

Here is an x-ray of feet with skew foot I found online (yeah, it looks weird- I could tell as soon as the podiatrist put my x-ray on the screen that something was funky):

Yeah, it's weird that it's gone undiagnosed for so long. Especially because the podiatrist could tell just from looking at my bare feet that there was something structurally wrong. My mom is surprised that my pediatrician didn't pick up on it when I was a kid. My feet are also apparently extremely flat, which is also something you think she might have noticed.

It's funny- I never thought my feet looked weird until I started looking at pictures of skew feet online and I realized that, yeah, my feet *do* look like that. I guess it's kind of like when someone is diagnosed with AS, and they start to notice all their little AS traits.

Thanks! Yes, she is is my cat. I've always said I think she is autistic, because she seems to have sensory integration dysfunction, she craves deep pressure, and she is clumsy. She also seems to have oddly loose hips (she sits very oddly), and hypermobility is common with autism. I'm just kidding of course, but she does seem autistic sometimes!

Thank you. I've got a follow-up appointment in two weeks, so I guess I'll find out more then.

I have not encountered a foot like that, I hope you are doing great despite of your condition.
