Are you comfortable with yourself if diagnosed with AS? If not why not - who has the right to judge?

Really happy now though I was very upset at first.

All the little puzzles of my life have been solved, well the ones to do with social mistakes anyway.

It seems I think along other lines compared to most people I know, so that makes sense now too.

Yes I am comfortable with it. It explained a lot, particulary my problems making friends and the ridiculous things I worry about.

I'm happy to know there are other people like me.

I haven't been diagnosed yet, but it answers LOTS of questions, and makes me feel less alone!

I am glad I have been diagnosed, though I did not accept it for a couple of years. I am happy now, I feel less lonely, and I can understand myself better.

It's a relief. I've spent my whole life struggling to be 'normal' and it's utterly exhausting. Having a label is wonderful. It has helped me to understand and forgive myself.

I don't like the label because people who don't know much about AS just make assumptions about you. They think you're obsessed with things and have no emotional intelligence, which in my case is not true. I only have some of the symptoms, but when you're given a label, people tend to write you off.

I am not diagnosed. I wouldn't want people at work to find out, because I am competent and liked there. AS would explain a lot of my unusual interests and social blunders.

Oh, yes, I am more comfortable "being me" then before.

For me, it is too easy to blame AS for every negative thing that happens. I have to be careful to not make it my scapegoat and objectively sort things out. It is also too easy for other people to discount your opinions as being distorted by AS. The positive things are finding objective information (instead of subjective psychobabble) and, of course, others like me. :)

If being part of a labeled group makes you feel better, then fine, but the essential YOU is what is important, it takes all types of people to give us a varied, interesting society - the YOURSELF - the being not the same is GOOD - Thus we are seperated from - (though not in some cases better than,) the beast.

Me too. I am so much more relaxed now my life makes sense to me. I suppose I have forgiven myself too - I hadn't thought of that before you mentioned it.

Never thought I would ever be so happy to be labelled :D

That's exactly why I don't tell anyone I have it. (My parents already know, they had me dxed)

I'm happy with it. It explains a lot of things which puzzled me for years. I'm still discovering what it means. Some things are negative but mostly I feel positive about it.
A few people know, I've chosen not to tell a lot of people, not because I'm ashamed about it, but because it's not important to me that they know. They can either accept me as I am or not, the choice is entirely theirs. :)
