Loud booms and gunshots ?

I really don't like the sounds.
I had a military career, so I really got enough of that sort of thing.
Sometimes hearing stuff like that, or even the sound of certain types of helicopters give me a strange uneasy feeling.
It's not necessarily a fear, but some other type of feeling, like accessing far away memories.
The loud booms are annoying though.

Where I live, most of the cheap fireworks that people tend to set off are notoriously loud, and I do not care for that. I build model rockets, so varying degrees of "WOOOSH... pop!" I can live with. But when they sound like someone is firing a howitzer? No thanks. Sadly, for most of the public, again where I live, that seems to be the thing; lots of smoke, a whole lot of noise. I have similar feelings about other loud noises.

I don't mind, but I can't help but think that their European and Chinese inventors intended them to be weapons...

Nice to look at, horrible to hear, especially when you wear hearing aids like I do. This weekend I'm leaving my hearing aids in and turning them OFF so they work like earplugs! Even then the close pops still bother me somewhat.

I can't stand them. Thankfully, I live in a town where they are strictly forbidden in the city limits.

I just don't care. The sound doesn't bother me too much & I have a rare low vision disorder that causes some colorblindness so I'm not that interested in watching them explode.

Guy Fawkes in the UK last year, was an intense experience, everyone seemed to have their own private display organised, I like how they look, but not the noise levels, I was frazzled by the end of that day.
Similarly gunshots make me feel very uneasy, a feeling I get at the start of firework season and less so by the end.

I was at a fireworks display in Spain once, and thoroughly enjoyed it because the fireworks were choreographed to orchestral music, Ive been to similar displays here, but the soundtrack was popular/well known music and it is not the same experience.

Starting to hate them... I mean for weeks people have been setting them off. I mean even the past year I don't remember them being set off till at least the 3rd but people have been firing them for weeks. Almost wondering if i am missing out on some kind of civil disobedience thing....just strange people have been setting off lots of fireworks the past few weeks long before the 4th...IDK what is going on.

I know I was frightened of them when I was little, as they looked like they were 'falling' on me. As an adult, I don't like the loud noise. I also think they're a waste of money (although definitely pretty).

For some reason fireworks don't startle me. I don't mind going to firework displays.

Like the sound and smell.

Not a fan of bright things on dark backgrounds, though.

This is really weird for me, because usually I hate loud, sudden sounds and bangs and booms too -- but....I actually enjoy the sound of fireworks.

And like I say, I'm not normally good with loud, sudden sounds. But for some reason I find the constant explosions of fireworks sort of pleasurable and I don't know why. The nature of the pop-popping sort of soothes me, which is weird.

But then I haven't had combat experience like the OP, and I totally understand someone who has served in the military not liking sounds that remind one of real explosions and warfare noises.

I'm not a particular lover of them. But I don't dislike them, for the most part. Fireworks displays could be nice sometimes.

If I only hear them on the 4th of July and Halloween, I'm okay. I wouldn't want to hear them every day, though.

I am the exact opposite: Love the shimmery colors, hate the sound and if I'm close enough to be in the smell, I'm probably having asthma from it.

Best for me is to watch a big display from a distance. Living near NYC, this is easy to do.

When I was little I use to get really anxious whenever I was at an event where there would be fireworks because I didn't like the sudden loud noises of them and not knowing exactly when they were going to start. I still get uncomfortable from the noise, but I really like watching the displays so I would rather just watch them from a distance.

I really love looking at fireworks, and I love the smell whenever I'm close enough, but I hate the noise. Every New Year's Eve at midnight I go outside and watch the fireworks with headphones on and music playing. It doesn't really help all that much, but it makes the fireworks a little more enjoyable.
