Hello,
Just wondering if anyone used a pressure vest before? Did it help with your anxiety?

Never heard of them for autism. I thought they were for fighter aircraft pilots, to keep the blood inside their brain.

At one time I worked at General Dynamics in Fort Worth, now Lockheed, makers of the F-16, every so often the company would have a seminar or whatever you want to call it, one was a pilot that was talking about how some engineers wanted to put a valve in the vein in the neck that returns blood from the brain to the heart, and have the computer of the plane control it, and the pilots were like "No way in effin' hell you putting that in me!"

I don't have one and have never tried one but I used to have alot of anxiety and for me it would help to press myself against walls and have pressure on me. So I would recommend you first putting for example couch pillows on you and then asking someone to lay down on them (and you) and see how that feels. Or press yourself against a corner. If you think that helps you might wanna buy one

They do them for autism too michael517 :) I first saw them at a Autism show but when I saw the price I was kind of put off! No wonder the pilot reacted like that...sounds extreme ha!

Thank you for the tip I will try that. If you dont mind me asking you said used to have a lot of anxiety how have you managed to reduce your anxiety? any other tips?

When I was a kid, I found my way to receive deep pressure:
There were 4 mattresses under my bed and I went lying between them regulary (up until teenage years and then I got a new bed and mattresses disappeared).
I started to squeeze between a cupboard and a wall.
I also wanted my older brother to lie on me for me to receive deep pressure.
A few years ago I read about Temple Grandin's deep pressure machine she has built herself and I understand.
I have no pressure vest as I do not have a lot of money apart from what I need for rent and food (I am on disability) and I cannot afford the cost of a deep pressure vest.
I usually sit most of the day very tight "interwoven" with my legs up on the chair's seat and my arms around it, supplying deep pressure to myself.
