Here was my letter to my interest in a job position for my local radio station to KISW 99.9 FM in Seattle, WA:

I am highly interested in working for my favorite radio station in Seattle, KISW 99.9. I would like to start out as an intern because I want to work in a paid position in radio someday. Plus, I have infinite knowledge and love of the music genres of hard rock and heavy metal. I'm willing to learn more about the new bands on the scene as well as know more about my favorite bands and getting to know them as people. I would like to be one of the first people with on the autism spectrum to be working in radio since I have Asperger's Syndrome. Thank you for reading my letter and hopefully there will be jobs available for me at the radio station.

Looks good to me. Maybe "infinite knowledge" is a bit of a stretcher, but otherwise I can't fault it.

I won't get started on my personal views about internships and the ethics of companies getting free labour out of people. At least the practical upside of it is that you're offering to work for nothing, so they're more likely to accept you.

Good luck with it. 8)

Depending on the station (company), they might not want to take on somebody who states he/she has Asperger's Syndrome or is on the Autistic Spectrum--saying you have it is somewhat of a risk.

Also: stating that you are on the "autistic spectrum" is enough. Or saying you have "Asperger's Syndrome" is enough. It might seem somewhat redundant to state that you have "both."

Also: Instead of saying "infinite," say "extensive." or "wide-ranging."

However: Who knows? Maybe this station wants to be a "pioneering" station, so you might be in luck after all.

In a world in which Bill Gates says he'd rather pick a lazy person to do a new job because they're more likely to find the most efficient way of doing it, anything is possible 8)
