So it's no news that people on the spectrum have sensory sensitivities and even gastrointestinal sensitivities, we can be semsitive to our own emotions too. But what about the endocrine system?

I ask because I'm having hormone issues of all kinds, I'm growing excessive facial hair, have menstrual problems, diabetic symptoms, weight gain, a swollen thyroid and countless other problems. I had my hormones tested- all of them, their all normal. My doctor suspects it's a sensitive endocrine system. Do you think this is autism related?

Does anyone else here have hormonal issues that cannot be explained?

I'm sure it's probably a inherited problem but just ruling this out.

A sensitive endocrine system? That's interesting. Yes I have lots of hormonal symptoms and menstrual problems. I started a thread about it in the women's section of the forum. I haven't had my hormones tested.

i haven't had my period for 2 years. no early menopause signs, no PCOS i had elevated prolactin levels a few years ago, my period has been amiss for years now. i also have acne from time to time, i wouldnt be surprised if a sensitive endocrine system is a possibility in any of our cases

My prolactin levels have always been elevated. My cycles has always been irregular. At one time a doctor thought I had a small tumor in my pituitary gland. It was ruled out once they discovered the test results got mixed up with someone else's. I have always had stomach issues and bowl issues. I'm very moody and it is due to my periods. I'm now close to menopause, I'm not looking forward to it.

In the past couple years, I've gotten far more sensitive. My thyroid essentially broke and I've been having a lot of weird hormonal problems they can't figure out, but it ends up causing a whole lot of pain. I've also become irregular where I used to be like clockwork, and even having periods lasting over 10 days now. No explanation so far, but this might be something as a possibility.

i read somewhere about how women with ASD can have PCOS or other issues like that. so apparently it's at least relatively common.

Yeah they tested me for that too, and nothing. They did a bunch of different ultrasounds and blood tests and nothing...
