What qualities do you have that you could apply to the task?

What do you think your duties would be?

How would you handle conflict?

If you could be any kind of tree, which would you be?

Wouldn't you say that, in a sense, that the moderators are "unofficial Forum administrators?"

Good choice. Flexible, conceals its inner form, and provides shade for lesser creatures.

Moderators (administrators) should be elected by WrongPlanet.net members. Make them campaign!

I could try to help people find different ways of thinking; if they want that.
I don't tend to judge people for their opinions too much.
I prefer to give facts and let people make their own decisions than try and say how someone should think.

To handle conflict I would mostly let people work things out for themselves. Sometimes if someone is trolling then just don't bother.

As for a tree I choose oak. :)

No, because then the elections would be based on popularity, not on merit. And how does one become popular? By disagreeing with no one, by contributing nothing controversial, and by sucking up to the mods.

(You know who you are.)

By leaving the choice of who becomes a moderator to Alex and the moderators themselves, there is a more critical eye given to the contributions a candidate might make. Keeping the nominations secret until the candidate accepts the position ensures that candidate may be more closely scrutinized for their true intent and motivation.

What do you know about how this website's database is maintained?

What database software are you proficient in?

Can you pass a background check?

Ahh ... An oak. Strong, sturdy, tall, and provides nourishment for herbivorous creatures. It could also be hollow, and no one would know it until it fell over.

Pah! As if we would fall prey to a system as feeble as democracy. This demagogue speaks like a true disciple of Pericles. I say no! The noble patricians should rule Rome with an iron fist like they always have. As soon as the plebs can vote themselves into power, we will be crushed under Caesar and Pompey.

Yes, yes, Cicero has spoken, you naughty little pleb, and the unity of Rome has been preserved. May you bless us all, our dread sovereign Jupiter. Bringeth us fat children and fat calves. Maketh your rain to fall on the Volscians, at humble Cicero's villa.

Now that I've averted Jupiter's wrath, I'm off to present another another oratory at the Forum.
