I can't really contain myself when I eat spicy food. I like the taste of mildly spicy food but eventually even that starts to burn and cause cold-like symptoms that I hate while eating.

My favourite way to release myself would be by eating any kind of junk-food, really just like many others. I don't let this happen frequently and often go to the gym or have a nice snack (i.e. tuna and biscuits) instead to maintain my health. 8)

Cooking, then eating the food.

Judo. As I bonus, I get to hug people while at it.

Dogs. Mingling with them.

Music. Listening or playing (badly).

Books.

Anything to distract me from the silence that is my life.

That is quite interesting, I mostly like spicy food because of the taste...but I can see how it could reduce stress at least temporarily. Basically your brain perceives that spicy sensation as pain, and what the brain does when you have pain is sends out its own opiate like chemicals to reduce it, which also would reduce feelings of stress. I can look up the study/article as it probably explains things more clearly and in depth if you want. It is also why a lot of times people will continue to eat spicy food even once it start causes them to sweat.

But yeah essentially that is probably why it makes you feel better when you are stressed...brain/body chemistry is interesting.

hmm weird, I eat spicy things when I have cold or allergy like symptoms...to reduce it, once I even went as far as sniffing a little cayenne pepper because I could not clear my sinuses no matter what I tried so it was my last resort...did clear things up some after burning like hell for a while.

Yes, I love spicy food. I like it so much that the non-spicy version of anything that could be spicy tastes too bland/boring. But eating spicy food doesn't have anything to do with my mental state. I just eat it because it tastes good.

I hear that the excessive consumption of hot and spicy food could eventually lead to stomach cancer. Not that chillies are carcinogenic. The gradual process of damaging the stomach lining could lead to some stomach disorder and eventually cancer.

When I feel stressed, I do eat a lot. It doesn't have to be spicy food, but just anything that tastes good. Even if my stomach is full, I need to eat something delicious. When my stomach is full, I feel very depressed.

As much as I love spicy food...I have to say sometimes my stomach/digestive system will not do it, so I have to turn it down.. But yeah I have really taken a liking to breakfast burritos except I hate eggs so always gotta order or make them without them...and a lot of places I go to are cool about making up for the lack of egg by just adding more potato and I usually get chorizo and green chili on them so spicy sausage with spicy green chile and potatoes lol.

Oh and if any of you are in the Denver, Colorado area ever....don't go to freaking Chipolte or some fancy Mexican restaurant for a burrito, taco or whatever. The real mexican food places where most of the menu is in spanish usually are way, way better...though they don't look that way at first glance building may be a bit run down, and it may be crammed in a shopping center of various stores but do you want Americanized pseudo Mexican food or tasty authentic stuff?

Oooo, marcb0t likes spicy foods. I eat it occasionally, and always put cayenne on my scrambled eggs for instance.

I don't run to the Tobasco to cheer up. I just enjoy spicy food from time to time. There's this habañero sauce I get at the store sometimes. It's got just the right flavor. I don't like the flavors of pace picanté or cheaper derivatives. bleh!

Now to answer your question (shame on me) :P

Some people call it "decompressing" though as a rob0t, I could say defragmenting.

So one of my favorite stress relievers is getting on my electric keyboard and playing some sweet melodies. Very relaxing. Since music is my special interest, I got to be careful so I don't stay there for hours on end. Not hard to do. 8O
