Not to be confused with an internal monologue. I can't remember ever having monologued at someone. When I feel a strong urge to explain something, usually when I get excited about something sciency in a movie, I imagine myself telling my closest younger sister about it, even when she isn't around and despite knowing that she probably wouldn't be interested. We rarely even talk anymore, but I still do it on occasion.

So I got my monologuing fix without doing something socially unacceptable.

Wouldn't that just be a monologue then?

I don't understand the question.

I do that a lot, but it never quite satisfies the itch to actually explain it to someone else.

Fortunately, my family usually listen and show interest, though they do get overloaded at times.

i like to inform myself eloquently as to what i am thinking, so i usually elaborate every whim i have verbally to myself.

I often have monologues within myself, as well as imagined dialogues with people (within myself).
