I was an extremely small boy when i was growing up, i was always the smallest boy in my class, my grandfather used to think i didn't eat right when i was a child cause i was so small, I'm short now as an adult, only 5'7 and my mom is 5'2 and my dad is 6'1, is smallness associated with autism,or can it stunt growth in any way? I've wandered about this for a long time, as i know i'm autistic and have multiple signs and symptoms.

No, I've met autistic people of all sorts of different heights. There's no connection.

I am 5 4 1/2 inches tall and was the smallest boy in the class.

I've always been one of the taller women I know (at 5' 8").

Can't you do a poll to get the average?

I don't think there's a connection. I'm a petite 5ft woman, and my son (also Aspie) is 5'11. I know a few ASD people and there are short ones, average ones and tall ones.

I doubt there's a connection.

If you're interested, I would make a poll and post it in "stats".

Its possible but I'm not sure you would get a correlation per say- but that isn't the same as there being no relationship. Its just that there isn't a common genetic abnormality in autism, and while its possible that some genetic may affect height- there may not be a height difference in autism overall.

no i dn't think autism affects your height. i'm pretty sure i'm short due to my mom's short-ness genes being dominant.

I am 5 ft. 2.99.
In fact there might be a correlation between short height and autism :
It has been shown that a lack of social contact decreases the level of growth hormone.
Many on WP have reported low muscle tone.
There also growth hormone plays a role.

I don't think there will be a correlation. Personally I'm 6' 5" and have a large frame.

I wish i could post pictures of me as a little boy,i was super tiny, it was strange, i feel it was autism or something that caused my abnormality.
