Lately it feels like I'm developing Alziehmers because of how much I forget things. I'll walk into a room and just feel completely lost, i forget peoples names and faces and names of things I know so well. Now I KNOW I don't have Alziehmers, I'm 18 and already had some testing done, my information processing is very slow and my short term memory is- well...short. Along with my attention span.

Anyone else have this problem?

I don't believe I've had any trouble with short- term memory, but Temple Grandin wrote that she has problems with hers. Hope this helps a bit. I might've forgot if I have any trouble remembering! :)

I've always had a poor short term memory but a good long term one, I suppose, but it helps if you do your best to focus on what your trying to achieve and set things in a series of steps. Don't allow yourself to stop focusing or get distracted. A good thing about the brain is it can be altered to some degree. The brain has plasticity. It's a bit like a muscle; the parts you use will get stronger and over time things you felt were mentally difficult will be easier. This is certain to happen if you use those parts often.

My short term memory is improving; mainly because my job is at the right level of challenging for me, it's a little difficult but not beyond my capabilities and also that I slow down when doing things and understand that I don't pick things up as quickly as 'normal' people.

I'm not sure if that's the same for you. I'd say that anything you strive to improve upon can only get better.

It's not all roses on the other end of the memory divide. I have close to an eidetic memory, I remember way too much information and it can be very overwhelming at times. My mind is structured like a giant spiderweb and any memory I access brings dozens of other memories that are only loosely connected, or perhaps only connected by the way I stored the memories themselves. It can be daunting sifting through all that information.
