does autism kind of feel like being rly young? Younger than your age maybe or younger than your peers? I mean in some ways you may feel "intelligent" or may have been told you are intelligent beyond your years but how do you really feel otherwise?

I feel like an old wise man. I joke that I have been a grumpy old man since I was a teenager. It's true.

Other people probably think I'm immature though because I don't act my age.

I'm a young adult but it feels like I'm no older than 12. Feels like I've just turned 11 yet I'm in the body of an 18 year old.

I feel young and old at the same time too! Sometimes middle aged and then sometimes a teenager. I'm 24.

I tested out as ahead of my age peers in intelligence and most academic criteria that wasn't affected by sensory issues such as APD & NVLD. So, I reach conclusions sooner & absorb the lessons learned by those around me quicker. However, in emotional & social development* I was always a couple years behind as a child and around a decade behind as an adult, as measured by various milestones. I guess that would also include development of Self, too, although I sorta sat that out for a few decades.

So yeah, on the whole I feel "younger" than NT people my age. Luckily having two young kids reminds me on a daily basis that I am, in fact, *old* so it all balances out. ;-)

*of the social development I've achieved. Many things will always be beyond me.

I know what you mean! I'm 47, sometimes feel more like 17, and oftentimes feel more like 107!

No, never wanted to. In fact, I was still playing with toys in my young to middle teens.

I inhaled pot once when I was 18.

I tried Schlitz beer when I was 15.

No. I created this website when I was a teenager while most of my peers were just hanging out with friends not doing much in their free time,

First time was 12, almost 13. Shandy, quite a bit of it. Before that only tasting my parent's drinks. That was my first that was my own. I've drank but never done any other drugs. Never any more than 4 UK units.
