My dad will often pressure me into brainstorming sessions. He loves to sit back and talk about how all these ideas come to mind when he brainstorms and says I should just stop being lazy.

The problem for me, though, is that brainstorming is difficult. Ask me to come up with 5 or 10 items in a category and I may quickly think of 1 or 2, but it will be a challenge to come up with anything more. My head starts to hurt and any new ideas do not come easily.

Thanks to dad, I now dread brainstorming sessions. As I struggle to come up with ideas in my dad's presence, he begins to become very critical, talking about his skill at brainstorming and using that to make it seem like I am just being lazy as I struggle. I begin to rebel mentally at this point, as the exhaustion and dread overtake me.

Does anyone else have this problem?

More important is that you let him put you down for this.
Don't do that man, maybe he thinks you're lazy, but if you know you're doing your best then just let him believe whatever he wants, but don't accept this beliefs as your own.
