do you know when you have tried something you didnt like because by instincts and naturally it didnt feel right for you to like it or to be doing it? well instagram gives me majory sensory overload: makes me feel suicidal, compare my life to others, obsess over people who are no longer in my life. its overall a bad time and i ccan genuinely feel my brain pulsing and throbbing super heavy when im on it which makes me overwhelmed and sometimes leads to a shutdown.

anyways, what my question is: do you think after all this time of deleting and remaking instagram and having the same situation and reaction over and over again. it is time to just accept that i have a different brain and cant participate in the hive mind activity cause i was wired/designed differently? it just bothers me sometimes that i cant be able to enjoy this app that everyone seems to have so much fun using without stimuli overload or pain but think about other aspies who want to go out but feel they cant cause of stimuli overload and they wanna be "nornal..."

its the same thing...

so do you think i need to listen to my body and not pay attention to the garbage out there.

that's the exact same reason i left facebook after my limerence started to strengthen/relationship crumbling.

i later got snapchat, actually enjoyed it but it then devolved to the same thing. i erased that too and now the space is devoted to funny pics, etc.

yes, listen to your body. if you're not willing to delete your insta, just choose, very carefully what to follow, blogs/accounts (if that's the right term) about something you're interested in if they are there. unlike FB, you get to choose more of what you see, at least that's what i think, from someone who has never had an account...

I get the same thing when I use social networking sites, I start to feel dizzy and start to get sensory overload too.. It also feels like a chore being required to constantly reply and keep the conversation going. I have chosen not to use Facebook or instagram for those very reasons. Listen to your body, the headaches and the sensory overload is not worth it.

sure. i felt a bit better when i cut down my fb use to once daily, even better to around twice a week. Potato is right, it's not worth it when it causes all this sensory overload ad then, it's better if you don't have one at all, but if you can find some people to follow that you do like, that's great too.
i don't know if people are going to ask you who you follow, maybe not.

from the instagram?

just toss the app, delete if if even still it is causing you this pain. it ain't worth it, your head's sign that they can't be compatible. :|

i get overwhelmed when i use it too, sometimes, all the words zooming by and the videos+sound that start automatically even when i meant to simply whizz by and skip it. when i sit in class, before it starts and others are on their phones, i hear sometimes loud bursts of noise, traced back to people using instagram or some other app, and they forgot that they left their volume all the way up, an then a vid starts. sorry you feel that you can't enjoy this thing that so many others do, but there may be something that is the vice versa? :?:

To be honest, I've never understood the sort of thing. You mention the term "hive mind", and honestly, that's usually how I see it (and "normal" society in general), and the question I always have is: Why in the world would I *want* to be a part of that? Frankly, I consider myself lucky that I'm not.

Particularly with social media... so much of it is just absolute drivel. So much posting about amazingly stupid or irrelevant things. When people post things like "OMG look at this new CHAIR I bought, I got it earlier, it's like a SUPER CHAIR, it's so amazing, I was like 'HOLY EXPLODING HORSES, BATMAN, WHAT A CHAIR THAT IS" and then I bought it and ZOMG CHAIRSPLOSION", I just cant facepalm hard enough because the shockwave would blow the house apart. And alot of it only gets dumber from there.

Now that all being said, if it's genuinely bothering you that much... I'd say to abandon it. I mean, what good is it doing you? There's no reason to constantly cause yourself that much pain in that way. You dont deserve that.

Heh. "I am in every way unable to eat this food without first taking a picture of it and utilizing the tailor-made food filter."
