Probably Going to Lose my Disability Appeals Hearing
Things look bad. Attorney tells me that more likely than not I would lose this case. From stats from prospective judges, odds are somewhere around 40% against me. In addition, insurance just entered deductible zone at a time we can't afford to meet it. I disqualify for supplemental insurance.
End result, no more psychiatrist and no more therapist visits. The lack of care hurts my chances of winning my appeals a few months from now. The lack of a disability check hurts my ability to get the care I need. Hmmmm.
Employment search continues just the same as it has for the past 2 years. All indications suggest that I wouldn't be able to keep a job long if I were to get it. So the rational thing to do is just shrug and keep on keeping on. Programming skills and projects keep building up. Resumes keep going out.
The beat goes on da dee dum dee dum da da dee dum.
Thoughts and comments? Am I handling this situation the right way?
Well, you could try and befriend people at companies you're looking at getting hired at, that would up your chances, but pretty hard to do with autism. That's the only thing I can think. Perhaps reworking your resume would help, I mean at this point what would it hurt?
Sucks about insurance and the court case, you have my sympathy. I hope it works out for the best.
I have two friends. One tried to get me into a job that was about a hundred miles away. I knew that any kind of commute that distance would wipe me out. I admitted it to their HR person. I offered the remote option. They declined.
During my last therapy sessions, I learned that NTs have a funny thing about trust in work environments. To be allowed to work remotely, you have to earn their trust. To gain said trust, they require physical proximity. That was kind of a weird lesson to learn. I always assumed the physical proximity thing was due to technical limitations.
My attorney says that insurance problems going into these hearings isn't unheard of. My treatment record had been fairly consistent for about 2 1/2 year. We'll see how this all pans out.
Household income is just over the line for qualifying for the public health insurance options I know of. (wife works)
Vocational rehab was interesting. That ended with a loss of one psychiatrist. It also got me a vocational assessment saying I needed serious help to render me acceptable in "most competitive employment".
