There will be a news report about Aspergers and bullying on ABC's Nightline tonight.

At 11.35 EDT on ABC's Nightline Wends 4th April

Link: Asperger's Syndrome Sufferers: 'Bullied on a Daily

High-Functioning Form of Autism Causes Social Awkwardness and Angst

Quote:
April 4, 2007 — Growing up, Daniel Corcoran was the odd kid at school. He wasn't slow, but his co-ordination was off, and he tended to obsess on certain subjects, like light bulbs and air conditioners. At the time, his preoccupations with random objects seemed quirky, but harmless.

They say that 90% of kids with Asperger's get bullied on a daily basis. Looks like it will be interesting, they will be talking to two Aspies; Daniel Corcoran (about 18 I think) and Noah Ostren (8-years old).

And Asperger's only schools/ homeschooling are not the norm yet? Sorry but this is a sore issue with me. People are so adament on mainstreaming that they sacrifice the kid in the process.

And we all know the bullying ends when they reach adulthood.

I got an email from GRASP about this and saw the early, brief version on ABC News. Pretty good as far as it went.

Corcoran and a 12-year-old boy they showed were an interesting contrast.

Corcoran is handsome and thanks to understanding the AS and to therapy seems normal. Of course he's going to have it pretty good now, especially because he's good-looking.

The boy reminded me of myself as a kid (except I'm not a maths/science Aspie) - even 'carries his books like a girl' like me at that age. (Gotta tell yourself, 'Hold 'em like a spear not a baby'. :))

So what time would it be on Eastern Standard Time? I've never even heard of Eastern Daylight Time until now! 8O

If you're on the East Coast you're currently in Eastern Daylight Time. Although it's really pointless, Eastern Standard Time would technically be one hour earlier, but again, since nobody in the Eastern Time Zone uses it right now, it's meaningless.

So, to simplify: If you're in the eastern time zone, you're currently in EDT.

Oh, okay, thanks! I'm still confused about the whole time zone thing thanks to living in Indiana. We just started using the time zones like everyone else last year. Before that, we didn't change our clocks at all and would use Central timing during daylight savings. How weird is that?
