I'm considering making a donation to an autism related charity. I know Autism Speaks is one of the least favorite. Any recommendations for a good charity, ideally one connected to schools/education? Wrong Planet itself does not show up on a guidestar.org search, so am guessing/assuming it is not a non-profit. Please correct me if you know otherwise. I'm also considering the nonPareil Institute.

Maybe you could give your donation to a local autism center or program (if you have any in your area). If I ever had extra money to donate, I would give it to the place I go for social skills classes. I know and like the people there. They have lots of programs for all ages, and they know what they are doing, so I would be happy to donate to them. If you're specifically looking for a national group, then I don't know what to recommend. I have heard good things about the nonPareil Institute.

As far as I know, some good autism charities/organizations (that are NOT Autism $peaks) to donate money to are:

The Autistic Self-Advocacy Network (ASAN)

The Autistic Network International (ANI)

The Autism Society of America

Autism Women's Network,

and Autism West Midlands, which I think is based in the UK. :)

Yes, I'm primarily looking for a national organization, but a local center is a good alternative, plan B.
