I recieved a PM from a member last night who is only 25 minutes old. They have no other activity. They just want to be my friend and asked me to reply to an email address. Just reading the PM got my spider senses tingling and it reeks of phishing. Do people have no f***ing morals, I think targeting someone on an ASD forum is low.

ok dude. Don't you have a name & shame policy to help out other members? Or is everyone here pretty clued up about phishing?

Yeah don't click on any links, and don't send an e-mail to the e-mail address they sent you. It all sounds like a scam.

That's quite definitely a scam of some kind and the link most likely opens a virus.

What I usually do is post their name and message in the moderator attention thread:

http://wrongplanet.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=237032

Otherwise, you can just PM a mod about it.

Yeah I think my spider senses are working ok. I find it difficult not to reply to these emails with some sarcastic comment, I've replied to hundreds of paypal phising emails telling them to b***er off. When I get cold calls about my PC being infected by some dude in India , I play a game with myself to see how long I can keep them on the phone and waste their time - I think my record is about 7 minutes of talking absolute rubbish - you've got to embrace the small wins

It's certainly a bot, not a person.

I'd probably have the mods move this thread into Wrongplanet.net Discussions, just saying.

It's a good thing that you made this thread, though.

I hit the report button and reported it but haven't heard back from any of the mods yet. I wonder if they are actually doing their job or what. I wonder if they are even still here daily.

Will I get a black mark against my name as it's been reported?

I received one of those too, and felt suspicious about it.

Absolutely not.
