Is there any scientific evidence for that?
When I visit a friend, I always ask for some beer, a coffee or a glass of water. That gives me a point to look at that allows me to avoid to look at other person's eyes in a much more polite way. It's likely that any clever and canny psychiatrist would reach the conclusion that I'm always thirsty
