Say if you're going to make a post on a topic that has about 4 pages, do you read through that backlog before making a comment, in case it has already been brought up or covered? Sometimes I can't be bothered. What's the ettiquite there?

If the topic is just farming out opinions, I don't necessarily read all pages. But if the person is asking for advice, or arguing a point, then yes I read the 4 pages. I find it annoying to create a topic that no one is fully reading and then they ask a question that has already been answered. Or they offer advice that reflects they don't understand the situation.

I'm no expert, but what I do is a compromise. Try to at least look at the preceeding pages (only some of them all, if it's more than 50 pgs.) & each of the separate posts. Just to get sense of words already used, ideas stated that I'd only be repeating. I read the short posts bc. that's easy to do, longer ones I look at what they're about. If they're on something of interest I may copy them to read later offline, otherwise I skip over them (it's enough for me to know that person X talked in detail about topic Y, okay-next !).
Agree w/KimJ's advice-depends on how much the context (previous posts including the original one) matters, it varies.

It really depends on what it is, IMO.

Normally I don't. I might skim some of the posts, but I won't read them word for word.

Skimmer, until I find something eyecatching. Honestly I find myself reading my Own posts most of all, making sure I didn't say something stupid, or checking for spelling and grammatical errors.

I read them unless it's loads of pages long

Thanks guys. I guess some Aspies don't pick up these unwritten online rules naturally, just like ones in society. :P
