I have a tendency to run in short bursts. Whenever I'm out sometimes I'll walk quickly and then burst into a run for about 30 seconds and then slow down again. I don't know why I do it; I just get the desire to sometimes. Combined with my generally unusual gait, my running in public sometimes attracts ridicule from strangers and my parents have said that running in the street when you're not wearing proper running gear is extremely unusual and looks very weird.

I can't exactly explain why I do it. I just get the urge to run and then do it without even thinking.

Does anyone else have this problem?

Yep, I do that all the time, I also get the urge to climb fences. I don't see it as a problem though - maybe it seems a bit strange for a 44 year old woman to be leaping around and climbing fences but I don't think its a big deal. If people have a problem with it - well thats their problem if they are so repressed.

As adults we forget how to run, how to climb...how to do all those things that make us feel *free*.

Perhaps your running causes the spice to flow?

Yep, but for some reason I mostly get it indoors so people don't care. I just sometimes have trouble stopping before I hit the wall, but I don't really consider it a problem...

I like to run up stairs. Seems easier than walking up and you get to the top sooner.

Intense exercise in short bursts is good for your health. If anyone asks, tell them you're doing HIIT. It's actually more of a problem that most people don't run (or even walk) anywhere. We're dying of it.

Well, unless you're running into traffic, or people. Then I guess that could be a problem.

I've always liked to walk around thinking, and sometimes when I do this, I start running or skipping for a few seconds.

I slip into skipping when thinking as well! Skipping around the playground at school got me mocked a lot so I stopped doing it in public but I can't stop the short burst running.
