Balls of the feet and Idioms

Irony rears its head! 2 different Aspie traits have taken their effect on me today

The phrase/idiom of "balls of the feet" always confused me. I assumed that balls of the feet were the heal, because, well, it looks like a ball! Which means, I do not walk on the balls of my feet, I walk on the part between my toes and heal. I just realized that balls of the feet IS THAT PART of the foot! Which means 2 things. 1) I DO walk on the balls of my feet like an Aspie and 2) I still have trouble with certain non-literal phrases. The irony made me laugh. Guess thats another Aspie trait I can check off the list!

I don't actually know which part of my feet I walk on... I always thought 'balls of your feet' was your heel though too That makes no sense, the bit near your toes doesn't look like a ball lol

i always say I walk on my toes, because that is what everyone else always said..why do you walk on your toes?" etc...but actually i guess technically that is walking on the balls of my feet..the big cushy padded area where the toe joints are.

As I recall, I DID used to walk on the ball of my foot(NOT the heel). TODAY, my foot falls about 2-3 degrees on the heel. As I recall, I changed that for PE which insisted certain things be done on the heel. 8-(

I also favor the balls of my feet when walking! Is that an aspie trait?! !

I have read a few places that it is, or a general Autism trait. Anyone back me up on that?

I earlier heard TOES, but toes DOES sound impractical. The ball is FAR more practical, I believe I used to do that, and women probably do that with high heels.

ironicly I can't wear high heels..they cause the blood to rush to my toes and then my toes swell up and also the fronts of my feet are too wide for most of those kinds of shoes even though I have very small feet

sorry dude. just did a quick literature search using an academic database but
'ball" of foot not mentioned. plenty of info re toe-heel walking and gait disturbances, though.

i thought he ball was the heal:? Anatomically the heal is much more like a ball

Slightly off topic, but the other day, I heard an expression that both puzzled me and made me laugh. This guy was complaining about someone who had refused help from him, and he said, "There he was, on the balls of his ass, and he wouldn't take any help!" So now we have balls on our butts as well! :lol:
