im sure this sounds weird but ive had instances during my sleep that i would float above myself and watch for a moment before returning to wake up....

ive had three of these instances within the last 2 years and other intutive moments that can be deemed as unexplainable...
if anyone out there has any moments like these i am all ears....do you feel there is any connection with being hypersensitive and astro projecting

No, but astral projection was one of my obsessions as a teenager, can't say I didn't try over and over! I guess I am a hard-wired skeptic when it comes down to it, which is an interesting overlay to an unshakeable proclivity to investigating the fringes of the "known".
Anyway if any of you have a sure-fire method I'd love to hear about it (and be skeptical of it!)

Sometimes I had dreams where I floated out the window and down the street, sometimes up to people's balconies and through their windows and into their apartments, down streets and into backyards, low over the city past power lines, down coal chutes, up into highrise apartment buildings, to my aunt's house, to a park, to the yard behind a bakery (this one was when I was a little kid and I met up with more little-kid spirits), to the local swimming pool (where, again, I met up with more kids, some of them the "mature responsible social-climbers' kids" whom I knew by face and name and status at school, but I had never actually talked to), to my school (where a janitor and a teacher and maybe one or two students were)... Many times I would meet other floatable people like myself, and I would be able to swim up into the air, and with little mroe effort, stay in the air, to escape from people, like security guards and "bad people out at night" who were chasing me. I could swim through the air like a bumblebee does. I would fly away, and they would often be outraged or terrified, or just have the "I'm going to get you eventually" attitude. Once Iwent into someone's house and caused a flood... but these were all dreams... startlingly realistic, though. One I floated to my school in the middle of winter and I think got trapped in a grate in the parking lot ground near an entrance, as off as this sounds... I have wierd dreams. Once I floated down the long boulevard to my father's apartment... then down to stores and restaurants, down to the library and the yacht club, to an old house that was supposed to be abandoned but wasn't really... I flooded it thinking it was abandoned, but I realized that I wasn't, that there were people in there, and I ran out before they knew I was there...)

I know someone with a Depressive Disorder who had an out of body experience, but I really doubt he was Aspie. :)

Sounds like astral projection to me. It's also called out-of-body experience (OBE). When it happens, do you find yourself jumping immediately back in to your body, or can you maintain yourself outside it for a while? I've read that the latter takes practice. I haven't had a great deal of success doing it at will so far. The one episode of real projection that I remember happened much like yours, spontaneously. It seemed like I stood from lying in bed and walked a few steps across the room, which seemed full of clear gelatin instead of air. The next thing I knew, I was back lying on the bed, and the room's air was normal. I think some schools of thought say it happens more often as a lucid dream.

I have dreams occasionally where I can fly, glide, or jump great distances at will. Sometimes it's like successfully levitating when I'm mentally pushing the ground away. I'd love to figure out to do that in waking life. All I'd have to do is lose my fear of heights. :)

Its hard to explain a method, because for people (not me) who can do it fluently, or at will, just do it. Sadly there isnt really any "directions" out there that can assure success. You just have to learn from doing it by accident, then a lot of practice, and patience.

Feelings of floating away from your body while either falling asleep or waking up are hallucinations that often accompany sleep paralysis. I've had dozens of these experiences. They used to scare me, but nowadays I'm able to recall that they're not really happening.

Most of the time, I hear buzzing noises, and see a person or "being" somewhere in the room, watching me. I've also seen a giant mosquito, a black dog, and vague shadows. Sometimes, I'll feel like I float out of my bed and towards a corner of the room, or I'll float up along a wall to the ceiling. I also feel like someone is walking on my bed, depressing areas of the mattress around me.

I've had moments of severe depersonalisation that feel as though I'm not in my mind or body but they are not literally out of body looking at myself experiences, just a big shift in perception or something.

Isn't that just the absolute worst? I had a period of about 6 months where I was both depersonalized and derealized. It's like my mind has retreated somewhere deeper than it should be, and everything I experience isn't happening to me. Everything loses its immediacy and impact, and I have to concentrate to interpret my senses. It's as if you're remotely operating a robot with video and audio feeds. The world isn't something you experience, but something you interpret. Even my own voice would sound like it was coming from somewhere else. Because you don't feel connected to what's happening around you, the world begins to feel inconsequential and confusing.

that sounds like a extreme case of detachment....i get that sometimes on a lesser level where as i would not understand what people would say to me even though i could hear it perfectly...with added over stimulation it proved quite impossible to even walk correctly and breath normally without gasping at times...

so far as the OBE's ive only felt the feeling momentary as where i would grow scared from watching myself sleep and would immediately return and wake up...no more than a few seconds at a time, yet i have no idea why they happend at my old apartment and not in my new one that i have been at for a year now....i wish i knew the variable that caused them but i havent a clue...hopefully i will have another one from which i can pay more attention to.

This happens to me a lot in social situations or when there is to much sensory information.I used to describe it to my therapist as being a spider ind=side my own head, looking out the eye holes.I felt no attachment to my body and had difficulty moving it from place to place.it wasnt fun.Doesnt happen much now.I stay away from people.

I also had the sensation of being slammed back into my body when I was between sleep/wake worlds.I would physically kick out or spasm as I returned.OK,sleep paralysis is a theory. My own, less scientific but more fun theory,is that dream world is real alternative diminssion we float in and out of by leaving our physical husks.

I can do this at will if I am relaxed enough. I don't have a logical explanation for it, nor do I have any religious beliefs to attribute it to, so it naturally scares me a little.

And here I am floating around in the room like a soap bubble and I notice there's somebody in my bed and... OMG! It IS me!

I have had one OBE.
I was looking in a mirror and then I started walking up the stairs, except I wasn't walking because I couldn't feel my feet touch the ground, but it looked like they were. I felt literally weightless.
Then all of a sudden I was back looking at the mirror again and everything was normal.
It was a strange feeling 8O
