For some of the younger members I guess. For me, it was the "Did you notice you were different when growing up?" thread, one of the first ones. I got some really sad stories from users, and it was a real kick in the pants for seeing how much being on The Spectrum can affect your life and show the worst in people.

EDIT: Oops, meant this for Autism Discussion. Can somebody get a mod?

Then how will people know that your joking? I think it makes people with ASDs seem kind of scary to NTs when we say that type of stuff :(

Edit: sorry about going off subject :D back to the subject

I think the darkest thing about AS is the way people treat us when we're kids. The way people bully young aspies is very serious business. (Not that it stops when we're older, but it does improve- in my experience anyway)

I agree....being treated differently, like an outsider, when I was younger greatly impacted me growing up. I"m still trying to overcome it.

It isn't fun. I also think Aspies are incredibly fair; I think that's why so many aspies get easily frustrated and say those terrible things "like I'm going to F****** hurt someone, etc" Aspies have an orderly and logic mind that want's the rules to be adhered to.

Threads about how early did you, or how often do you consider suicide? These hit me because I consider it every day, and it hurts me to know that am not alone in this. I wish I was.

I was treated horribly by others when I was a child but the funny thing is that I now find that to be an incredible source of strength now. The hell I endured then has given me the discipline and resolve to be successful and allows me to live my life on my terms and my terms only. I don't take crap from anybody at all. The dark side can be very powerful if you learn to use it correctly.

I think the most disturbing posts are those about cutting and self-mutilation. I am squeamish about blood and couldn't think of doing that.

I don't think AS is bad, but some posts about it are disturbing.
