IN order to prevent user conflicts, I'm working on writing a feature to enable you guys to ignore certain users' posts. I hope this is a good idea. If you don't like the idea, don't use it. But I'd like to get some responses on what you think about the idea. Thanks!

I use this feature on another board I visit. It works surprising well.

I thought threads would seem choppy when missing some posts but that is seldom the case. Some people just don't add much content. Even when a ignored post DID contain something useful, I could generally get what it said based on what others said in reply or because someone else would have used the quote feature.

I can't really see why people would object to this...

Although it should be made so it is Ignore User on This Board (Like only on the PPR board) or across forums as a choice. That way if you don't like the persons comments on PPR but like talkin to them on others, you still can :D

I've never thought of the silent treatment as a mature manner to handle a problem, face to face or over the internet. I don't plan on using this feature on anyone and I hope that nobody uses it on me.

It may be useful in avoiding raising your blood pressure where there is a persistent poster who posts repeatedly on the same subject, or trolls - we have had two such members before you joined Sean who caused widespread hostility. An ignore button would have been very useful at that time. (Incidentally both were banned due to their behaviour).

Brilliant idea. Absolutley spiffing.

But i'll never, ever use it. I'm FAR too nosey.

Was FuzzyChickens the other person that got banned? He was so in denial.

While it's nice to have it, it's also nice to have a way to access it other than through ignoring a person to do it if you ever change your mind and don't want to ignore them.

Could this maybe put into an area for users if they want to be able to easily access it without having to press the 'ignore button'? It makes a little more sense than trying to keep track of a bookmark or a thread.

I think its a supoib idea! I'll be using it exclusively to block annoying, worthless mass-volume posters (no names, no pack drill ), rather than anybody I'm "in barney" with, so its unlikely to prevent flame wear unpleasantness per se, but we'll see how it goes.....

Yes, I plan on doing that.

I should think if it's allowed on chatrooms it should be allowed here.
