Does playing with a yo-yo at 35 years-of-age count? :)

What about walking backwards? Or, making sure the back of my heel hits the step I'm standing on when going down stairs?

Uh.

I'm double-jointed, ok.

I like to twist my arms over my head and behind my back.

People wonder how I accomplish this.

I touch and pull at my hair a lot. I think I'll grow it longer again, but not too long. I like the way longer hair feels.

I can't really tell stims from my complex motor tics (dxed Tourette's), but I do play a lot with my lower lip, sort of folding it. I also pull skin in odd places.

I don't know what qualifies as strange. All of it or none of it? Some stims are to ease anxiety, others for pleasure.Which count as stims? The psychologist said my limbs are probably restless from anxiety. But stims are for pleasure, not to reduce anxiety right?

I constantly clench my jaw in rythm, especially when I see lines.
It helps me tell me "where my head is floating in space".
Got teased for that in school.
I also play with my facial piercings...
Constantly twist my fingers around and write in the air what people are saying.

oh, that reminds me, ever since I was a kid I draw a five-pointed star with my right index-finger when I'm thinking or stressed. And I flick my thumbs against my other fingers.

I would say stims are for both pleasure and to alleviate anxiety. The pleasure of stimming distracts from the anxiety and thus helps alleviate it. A recent thread about stims seems to indicate that this is the case based on the posts I read there.

Burning off nervous energy probably has something to do with it too.

I make a weird gutteral throaty noise in conjunction with "popping" my shoulders in... this often in conjunction with going over sidewalk cracks or passing by lamp posts, etc.

If that's not weird, I don't know what is.

I used to be able to do that. Then, when I was about 43 I started to get arthritis in my shoulders, developed adhesive encapsulites, and so I haven't done it since then.

I tend to bounce my leg frequently, chew on my beard or the inside of my cheek and pop my finger joints.

Does pretend trap-set drumming with feet, legs, arms, hands and fingers count? LOL!! ! I even designate certain surfaces to have the "sound" of the cymbal, etc., and to get that sound I have to hit that surface!!

I do this and "hear" blues in my head or music of some kind of rock format. This is NOT nervous leg condition.

The subconscious one I do is to massage an inner forearm with a finger of the other hand.

I rub my eyebrows. I've done it since I was a baby in my cot, according to my parents. I love it. It feels great. I used to think it was just a wierd thing I did until I was assessed last year, but since that, I figure it must be a stim. that makes me less embarassed about it too, knowing why I'm doing it :D
