Arrgh, no offence at all meant to you, Starfoxx, but if I hear this term one more time I'll scream.
I don't even know what this means, doubt I have ever felt it or would understand if I did. I hear this term bandied about so much by so many people, like it's important, and I don't get it. Things are what they are. I have the same response when people tell me "you've had a lot to overcome in life." It is what it is, and that is all, there is no other emotional content attached to it.
Grateful, the dictionary tells me, is "warmly or deeply appreciative of kindness or benefits received; thankful."
I have trouble with this. Just as I have trouble with being resentful or feeling unjustified at unkind acts. Those acts too are just what they are.
What exactly is gratitude?
It's fine if you don't ever feel it. I never used to at all. I thought the same as you.
I guess I'm just posting because I'm interested what everyone else things now.
