I'm in the process of creating an NT, but quirky alter ego. That's the way I want to interact with the world most of the time. I like being treated like an equal and actually enjoying myself in social situations.

For a while I've also been thinking of creating an aspie alter ego. I probably won't explicitly say she's an aspie, but I bet people will think she's one. She will wear thick librarian glasses, have plain clothes, crazy brown hair and plain makeup. She will mainly be on websites like YouTube or whatever is around when I can make that character a reality. She will get super enthusiastic about reading academic papers and she'll throw temper tantrums on camera. She'll also have no filter. She'll just say what's on her mind. I just want to know how people will react to this caracter.

Amy? Is that you miss Fowler?

It's more of a social experiment. I want to see how people will react to me depending on how I behave.

Uhhhh, so you want to mess with people's heads on purpose just to satisfy your curiosity? That's messed up.

On the one hand I find social experiments to be interesting, but on the other, I find them to be dishonest.

I don't think I could be fake like that.

It will only be a YouTube channel or whatever other social media platform exists. I probably won't act out that alter ego in real life.
A lot of youtubers are fake characters anyways.

^Yes, I suppose that's why I don't really like those types of YouTubers. I usually find their sense of humor as ridiculous, and over-the-top. Many of them have no real talent in humor or acting but manage to get a bunch of people to watch them.

I just dislike fakes.

So you wanna be a performer on U Tube. And want to do so by being a character who is a put-on (kinda like Stephen Colbert as a faux Conservative pundit). But it wouldnt be partisan. It would be along personalty/neurology divides.

You want to...get in touch with your inner geek...and bring her out as this put on character. An uber aspie. A female Sheldon Leonard (or an Amy Fowler).

Sure. Why not? Could be cathartic, and a way to laugh at yourself in a therapeutic way if you did it right.

Not sure how this schick would work. But I can sorta imagine a persona who is out of it and clueless that they would be laughable to someone who got the joke, and offensive to those who didnt get the joke.

Maybe you could do a program called "Fun with Flags"!

Yeah...used to think things like "Candid Camera" was fun until I was on the end of practical jokes. A few were funny as long as it didn't persist.

I agree that 99% of what's on YouTube is crap and not even good crap. But, still, messing with people is seriously messed up. Sounds off somehow.....

And Stephen Colbert is a rare talent. Trying to do what he does...well.....good luck......

Actually yes^.

Disregard what I said above.

The more I think about it the less doable and the less desirable (even if it were doable) the idea looks.

You would just be doing a derogatory stereotype of autistics. Even if you could hire the writers to actually do it- you wouldnt really wanna do that.

I already do this through text. I pretend to be from different groups to get different perspectives. Since it's human nature to treat people differently because of the group they're from I try to get a more balanced perspective by pretending to be male sometimes.

That puts me on guard a lot because I thought this would be the one place I could be me and meet others like me. Not be talking to a fake person who is just testing waters. I'm not yours, or anybody else's social experiment.

More than a bit manipulative and seems a bit sociopathic to me.

I'm not being fake on WP. I only act fake on Reddit and yahoo answers. Sorry to burst your bubble, but I believe some users on WP are trolls who are pretending to be someone else.

Trolls are easy to spot. But it's still unsettling none-the-less. And, having admitted that it is something that you do like to do, I don't know where that line is really being drawn.

They're not always easy to spot. I don't think it's nice to troll autism forums, so I don't. I have nothing against trolling some as*holes at Reddit.
