I get embarrassed about how narrow my interests are. An example is glasses. I used to get teased in elementary school about that interest. The teasing was so bad my teacher mocked me about it in front of the whole class. Right now I go on a dedicated forum for that interest. I also get interested in specific eye conditions. Generally ones I have myself. I find this interest embarrassing because I was teased about it. I also find it embarrassing how narrow this interest is. I make it seem less narrow by not mentioning it or just saying I'm interested in optics. People usually assume I have normal interests like photo lenses when I say that. I also have other interests which are more broad than this one. I talk about them more than my glasses obsession because I seem more NT when I talk about those interests.

I try to spider web out to more general topics. Doesn't always work. I try to have at least one "mainstream"/"niche but has an RL community" interest even if I'm not all that keen to have something to talk about.

I try to get other people to talk and I avoid my really narrow interest because I know I tend to talk obsessively about them.

I'm trying to get others interested in my niche interest of spectral editing of sound. :dj:

I'm mostly focused on high school right now.

Probably not. I'm taking things slow because I'm working on my health right now. I'm going to try out a new school, so I might be able to graduate sooner.

If you have some narrow obsession you can alway figure out how the principles in that area apply to other topics, and then you can fan out in your thinking about to make conversation in other topics.

Eye glasses involve optics which involves lenses. That topic of lenses relates to photography, and astronomy, and other things.

That's a brilliant question.

You've augmented your interest in the Kinks with an interest in Hogan's Heroes.

Two very different things. The only thing they have in common is that both were entities of the 1960s.
