Suspected Aspergers in Son

My son is 21 years old. I suspect that he has aspergers. When he comes home from college, I would like to have him go to a specialist in the field to be tested. My problem is that I don't know how to tell/him ask him. I am afraid that he might be offended, especially if the testing is negative for Aspergers. As I have been speaking with people who have children on the spectrum and reading everything I can on the subject, I am pretty sure he does.

He is a sensitive person that is extremely shy/introverted. I would never want to hurt him. Any advice on how to ask/tell him my thoughts in a kind and thoughtful way? Thank you so much for any help that is offered.
