How often should I vacuum my room? How much time should I spend vacuuming my room?

What would these results mean? Been told here I must be a "half pint".

Depends on how much dirt/dust collects on the floor and how fast. Also on how clean you want your floor.

I don't know how often most people vacuum.

Until the floor is clean.

Or until you've gone over each bit of carpet at least twice and the carpet is all fluffy (if you have carpet....if you have not-carpet I have no idea because then I would just look to see if the floor was clean yet.)

Why would that matter?

Once every two weeks. You should do it once a week if you have pets, keep windows open, wear shoes indoors, track in dirt a lot, or have allergies. The time spent will depend on how big your room is, how much suction your vacuum has, and how fast or slow you move. As a general rule, I would recommend going over the whole carpeted surface at least three times, paying special attention to corners and near baseboards. When I say "going over", I mean going forward or backwards counting as 1 time.

At our house it is once per week. Of course if there is a mess, we can clean up the mess immediately instead of waiting for the designated day for vacuuming.

Also, why does it matter if the original poster is a boy or a girl? I take offense to that. You need to know how to keep your house clean regardless of sex.

but it seems that a tidy boy is more rare than a tidy girl.

When you see there is a need to. Or whenever you clean your room from other stuff.

Personally I don't use vacuum cleaner at all since I hate the sound. I use self-adhesive tape (you know, the thing that helps you get animal fur out of the furniture) or take the carpet outside and beat it. I do it every time I clean my room (cleaning = taking the dirty clothes and trash out, dusting, arranging stuff) which is about once 1,5 week. I got 2 cats.

The workshop gets cleaned once a month but the rest of the apartment is cleaned on a continuous basis because of the cat. My girlfriend is a CSI which means that this apartment is spotless 8)

I tried vacuuming my bedroom some time ago. I decided to clean the floor under the door to my closet since it looked dirtier than the rest of my room, but after several minutes, nothing changed. Any suggestions on removing ground-in dust from carpet?

Carpet shampooer. The type that looks like a vacuum but washes the carpet instead. Sometimes you can rent one. You can buy smaller ones for not too much money.

Well, I am terrible at housekeeping.
I clean it when I am more overwhelmed by the mess than I am by the task of cleaning.
It takes me how long it takes me.

I read this on a carpet web site.

For every one person in the household=1 day of vacuuming.

So for you it would be one day a week for the room.

I vacuum when I start to see crumbs or pieces of lint, garbage/whatever on the floor. I bought laminate floors for my bedroom which I have yet to install but when I do, I will just use a swifter and be able to clean my entire room in under a minute easy. I hate carpets, I just see them as one giant allergen. For me to wash all the carpets in my bedroom, it took almost 7 hours ugh. My machine could only do a small portion then you had to run back to the sink, empty it out, restart the process, what a pain.

I vacuum whenever I get a wild hare up my wazoo, and I declutter the floor sufficient to see how dirty the carpeting has become.
