I pretty much feel like I have little or no energy to do things throughout the day. Just standing up makes my body feel heavy and I want to sit back down again. When I was working I moved slowly and felt totally exausted by the end of the day. Since I'm not working now, I made a long list of things I need to do or should do, but I'm severely lacking the energy and motivation to do any of it. I try, and just feel like it's too much effort.

Who else has very little energy left in them?

Me. I think I'm going to have to get my sun lamp out this next week. I didn't even want to get out of bed today which always happens in the winter. The IBS stuff is depressing me too.

Yes, I am majorly lacking in energy. It's due to my illnesses. Maybe you should go see your doctor?

I feel this way too. Very lethargic and I spend a lot of time lately just lying down because I get too tired sitting or standing. My body feels, I don't know how to describe it, like all my muscles are too loose, like I'm dragging through heavy water.

Yes, to a certain extent. After taking care of the basics - job or study, cooking, cleaning and the like - I don't have much energy left over. I don't know how people manage to hold down a full-time job, look after a family, socialise and do energetic activities on top of it all. I do make myself exercise, and being fit does seem to increase my energy levels a little, but I still don't seem to have as much to spare as others do.

I have no idea why. I've been like that for as long as I can remember. I did wonder at one point if I had a mild form of chronic fatigue sydnrome, but now that I have the Asperger's diagnosis I think it's more likely that everyday life drains me in so many little ways I feel like I'm dragging myself around. It could also be that I have weak core muscles and so literally struggle to hold myself up. If anyone has an actual diagnosis for their lack of energy I'd be interested to hear what it is!

Many different things can cause fatigue. One of the first things doctors test for when someone is suffering from a history of fatigue, are vitamin deficiencies and thyroid problems. Most chronic illnesses come with chronic fatigue. In reference to what I posted above, I have 3 chronic diseases that cause my lack of energy. A neurological disease called Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome, a rare genetic connective tissue disease called Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, and a rare cellular disease called Mast Cell Activation Syndrome.

If you are experiencing chronic fatigue, to the extent that just taking a shower exhausts you to the point that you have to rest afterwards, then you should tell your doctor. While it's statistically unlikely you'd have what I listed above, there are hundreds of other things it could be attributed to.

I suffer frequently from fatigue. More days than not. But some days I feel fine. It's quite random and it does my head in as I can't plan/commit to doing anything. My GP seems to think it is a symptom of depression. I suspect being fatigued and it's impact on my life is depressing me. Will we ever get to the bottom of it ...

Thank you for the information, AuroraBorealisGazer. I doubt I have a major condition like one of those you have as my fatigue is not so severe that I have difficulties taking a shower. I admire you greatly for dealing with three conditions that cause chronic fatigue.

Anyway, yes, I'm always exhausted.

I am the same way. I've always been like this but I don't know what causes it. I need lots of rest and I have to take short breaks in the middle of doing things.

I used to push myself a lot harder to get stuff done. I think over time the overexertion has made some of my problems worse. Especially after doing a remodeling project a couple of years ago, nothing really labor intensive just some minor carpentry work and painting, but it took a lot out of me. I haven't felt the same since then.
