I have last week been permantly excluded from a special school witch specialised in autism. Does anyone no any good schools in the north west for PDA, ADHD ,OCD,ASD? They have to be able to cope with meltdowns including self injury and agressive behaviour. Feel like everyone's giving up on me

Just been for a meds review, feel like my physiatrist is missing something I'm on 6 tablets a day and I still have these huge meltdowns.

Any advice completly welcome, thanks

Have you told your psychiatrist about the meltdowns already?

If not, you should tell him/her.

I'm sorry you've been excluded from this school. Have they offered any alternatives?

Is homeschooling an option for you? That's what my parents did when I got excluded from a school. (Not an ASD school, this was pre-diagnosis for me.)

The problem with finding a school that can handle self-injury and aggression is that many of them are either really punitive and controlling, full of kids who've been excluded for severely bullying peers, or both. (My cousin got sent to a special school because he was getting into constant fights and sexually assaulting classmates. You would not want to go to a school where he would fit in.)

But are you in the UK? If so, ask the people at http://www.pdasociety.org.uk/ for advice. Most of them are in the UK because it's hard to get a PDA diagnosis in other countries, and I know there are some schools designed specifically for PDA kids in the UK.

Homeschooling would be ok but I need a residential placement and facilities that can stimulate me like sensory rooms ect. I was out of education for a good 6 months and I became obsessed with not leaving the house:s x

This school I was at could handle self injury and aggression but they said being a ASD school I had too many menal health problems that they didn't no enough about and couldn't manage. They where fine till I got into a intense relationship with another child and it ended in conflict.

They are looking at a place that has specilizes in autism and epilepsy but I don't have epilepsy. The students there will be mostly non verbal but I have a caring and protective nature towards people who cannot defend them self so I think they are thinking that it will be better. The other side is that I may be a fish out of water.

Yeah I will check the pda society out as my pda and ocd are my top biggest issues. I think something that specialised in pda would be ideal I'll have a look :D

Thanks for your help
