Hi all,

I've just started a blog. It only has one post so far, but its aim is to try and open up the world of someone with very highly functioning AS to others in the same situation and to help those who don't share the same issues understand what it can be like.

What I'm looking for is input from readers on and off the spectrum on what they would like to read about, what questions they have, what issues or experiences they would like to know about.

Please feel free to have a look and ignore, comment or share as you like! I'll post below my intro to give you a better idea.

Thank you :)

This blog is from the perspective of one Square Peggy. I often look pretty much round to all the other pegs, though they can see my funky design (some of them like it and some not so much). Sometimes I feel pretty much like a round peg too. I can shave my corners and fit into the round hole and blend in with all the other pegs. But other days I am very square. And occasionally something squeezes me the wrong way and my spring pops off completely, leaving me unsure whether I'm even a peg at all.

I have autism. Asperger's Syndrome, to be precise. Most people don't even know about my diagnosis. I've had years to master the art of appearing normal and I've got it off to such a fine art that some wouldn't believe me if I told them.

People don't really talk very much about very highly functioning autism so I have decided to start for two reasons:
1. to support people in the same situation, who often feel invalidated or like imposters because we aren't "properly autistic"

2. to show non-autistic people what's really going on underneath when mostly I look like one of them.

I hope this blog helps to spark discussion, to let people like me know they're not alone, and to bring insight to people who care about someone like me.

Please feel free to comment and ask questions :)

That sounds like fun. I'd like a link to your blog if you can post one. My boyfriend and I have a similar sort of blog, we're both aspies and we co-write posts about our experiences. It's been a while since we've updated though. I'd be interested in a blog post about any sensory problems you have, how you deal with them, and how others react to you, especially given that not many people know about your diagnosis. Good luck writing!

Thanks! Looks like a good read and very entertaining. I shall enjoy when I get some time to sit down and read (because that's really likely...). Not sure I chose a very good moment to publicise mine as the first post is such a hodge-podge of thoughts and quite a heavy issue for me. Usually people find me quite amusing so it may improve over time! Hoping people will feed back on style etc as well as content!
