Hello everybody,
I have to write a research paper for my English class and I want to write one on an Autism related topic. My professor says it is a great idea, but I have to narrow it down to something more specific regarding Autism and I'm not sure what to focus on. Does anybody have any suggestions?
Thank you all and have a great day :D :D :D

How about something that seems to not be very common knowledge, like exactly WHY we have been getting more diagnoses in the recent years than a while ago. Or how different the experience of having autism is. Or even something like how it was depicted in older media.

I guess something like executive functioning or sensory issues and how they affect individuals differently

Executive functioning, how it could be that a person with above average intelligence cannot arrange books on the shelf.

Lack of services for adults.

I once wrote a paper that was something like, "What would [this person] think of the books in our course?" and got a great grade for it. I wrote another one once about the Trailer Park Boys as characters in an Arthur Conan Doyle story. Also got an A+ for that. You could do something like that.

Either make a character from a book you like autistic and rewrite the story, or write a paper from the perspective of a character you like and have that character comment on autism diagnoses. English teachers like things like that.

I have another one: how people with undiagnosed autism go for counselling and are being told their issues are caused by trauma, and then believe it due to the fact autistic have low understanding of their own emotions. And the fact they're not in touch with their emotions for a counsellor is a proof for that. You just can't win here.

Thank you everybody for the suggestions :D They all are fantastic! I'm going to try to add stuff about each thing into the paper, thanks again :)
