Does anyone else utterly despise old people..? Y'know, the wrinkly, dependant, almost parasite-like wastes of life? They smell bad, make noises, posess the intelligence of a rock, and are ugly as all hell. Sorry, but I judge on outward appearances. It's the first thing you see. If someone's ugly, I don't like them as a person. OH YES! They can't hear at all.. and it pisses me off. The manner with which they eat TRULY sets me off. And even worse, we even try to keep these parasitic beings alive. It's sickening! Let them go! Anyone else feel this way?

some of them are cool 8)

i like that some when reaching a certain age just stop giving a s**t about anything. im not quite there yet.
But there are despisable people everywhere, age isnt usually the issue.

Um, no. I was very sad when my grandmothers died. A lot of old people are very sweet.

I think you should print this out, save it 50 years and then take another look....
I used to work with old people and most of them are cool, all of them are worthwhile individual human beings.

The OP sounds dangerously close to Nazi-style propaganda.

Replace old people with Asperger's Syndrome while you're at it.

Yeah right...we had a old guy who used to come into the store I worked in...he came in every day to play his numbers...he smoked those nasty un-filtered ciggs, and wore the same ratty old plaid jacket it seemed like every day.

He didn't say much to anyone but he saw my car outside fixed up and asked about it...so we would talk about cars every now and then and he would ask about what I was doing to it this week.

He used to tell me to come down to his house and take a look at his cars...I used to blow it off...then one day I was bored and in the area...so I figured what the heck...

He opened those garage doors and you could have hit me with a brick...57 Fairlane, 65 Thunderbird, 67 Chevy truck, little electric car of some sort (looked like a space pod), 79 bug, and an older rabbit convertible with only about 1400 miles on it. He had two garages he kept them all in.

They were all pristine...you could literally eat off the engines...

He passed away about a year ago...they were sold at auction...but we were friends for years...

...when VW came out with the VR6...he was first in line to get one, 5 speed too...he was in his 70's then, sharp as a tack...took me for a ride in it...pinned my head back to the seat doing over 90 on the four lane.

I really miss him.

Old people can be kinda like history books. They might not remember breakfast, but they'll tell you about the bombings in WW2 or how they survived the Depression. Can be pretty cool. The ones in my area have a tendency to drive their Lincolns and Cadillacs into building fronts, though.

I work in a residential home for the elderly. I'm not a carer; I just do stuff in the office part-time.

I would say I don't DISLIKE the residents any more than I dislike humanity in general. There's some remarkably careful wording for you

I think they have beautiful faces, much more interesting to look at than younger humans. I have prosopagnosia though, so I'm not reading faces as people, more like patterns. And old faces are more complex patterns.

(They do seem kind of strange though on the rare occasions I come into contact with them... I will admit that I don't like senile people because I don't know what they're going to do, but then I don't like children for the same reason, so that's not exactly discrimination. As the bumper sticker goes, "I'm not prejudiced, I hate everyone").

Old people are just people. I'm not more or less likely to like them than anyone else.

I prefer old people to people my age. But a lot of old women drive really badly.

Why not? Old people have just as little control over their age as a person has about their membership in a particular race. Plus, old people are often even more vulnerable. For instance, negative attitudes towards old people may result in their poor treatment by family members, placement in a sub-par care facility, or bad treatment from the nurses who are supposed to be caring for them. Don't forget, your grandmother once cared for your mother when she was just as wrinkled, helpless, noisy, smelly, and parasitic. If she hadn't, you wouldn't be here.

Because, assuming everyone lived the same age, we would all end up the same at some point. So I think usually ageism isn't as serious. There aren't many people who really hate old women just for being old women. They usually just get irritated by them.

This is stupid. Everyone that lives long enough will eventually be an old man or old woman, maybe drive bad and be senile and wear old clothes. You know why they wear old clothes? Because Social Security doesn't pay much and then a lot of times they spend their money on medicines. Generally speaking older people are much nicer to me than people my own age and definitely the younger people are not much nice at all.
